‘Super Smash Bros. for Wii U’  has just received a new update that expands the game’s 8-person multiplayer mode with a total of 15 new stages to play in.

The version 1.0.2 update is currently available now and puts in nine additional regular stages, and six variants of the Final Destination Omega stages for use in the game’s 8-player Smash mode. Previously, ‘Super Smash Bros. for Wii U’ had only featured 12 Standard stages and 20 Omega stages to play the mode in. However, to compensate for the addition of new stages, stage-specific events have been removed from those that have them to adjust for proper performance in the game’s 8-player Smash mode.

The full list of added stages are as follows:

Standard

  • Mario Circuit (Brawl)
  • Pyrosphere
  • Norfair
  • Luigi’s Mansion
  • Lylat Cruise
  • Pokémon Stadium 2
  • Town and City
  • Smashville
  • Wii Fit Studio

Omega

  • Mario Galaxy
  • Mario Circuit (Brawl)
  • The Great Cave Offensive
  • Lylat Cruise
  • Pokémon Stadium 2
  • Town and City

On top of the addition of new stages in the 8-player Smash mode, a couple minor changes and fixes also come alongside the update. First off, saving to an amiibo from the amiibo menu no longer takes players out of the menu. But more importantly, adjustments have been made in order to better balance the game as well. However, as of writing, Nintendo has not released a full list of what has been changed in terms of this.

‘Super Smash Bros. for Wii U’ is the fourth entry in the long running fan favorite brawler franchise featuring iconic Nintendo characters. First alluded to by series director Mashahiro Sakurai during E3 2011, the title is a joint project between Sakurai’s studio Sora Ltd. and Namco Bandai Games.

‘Super Smash Bros. for Wii U’ is currently available now for the Nintendo platform that it states it’s on.
