While fans of the cult-classic ‘Good Omens‘ novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman may have hoped that a second season could further the story, that won’t be happening. We have already been told that there will be some new content in this 6-episode run, but according to co-author Gaiman, an ongoing story isn’t in the cards.
This unfortunate detail came directly from Gaiman at SXSW in Austin, Texas:
“The lovely thing about Good Omens is it has a beginning, it has a middle, and it has an end.
Season 1 of Good Omens is Good Omens. It’s brilliant. It finishes. You have six episodes, and we’re done. We won’t try to build in all these things to try to let it continue indefinitely.”
He shared this while they also streamed 20-minutes of the upcoming series which stars Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant as the demonic Crowley who are trying to prevent the rise of the Antichrist and the end of the world. Of course, Heaven and Hell are both itching for a fight and aren’t being too supportive of these two trying to prevent it.
Are you looking forward to the upcoming release of ‘Good Omens’? Were you hoping that this could have been the first season to an entirely new series based on the original novel or deep down did you know this was always only going to be a self-contained story? With Armageddon just days away, the armies of Heaven and Hell are amassing, and The Four Horsemen are ready to ride. Aziraphale, an angel, and Crowley, a demon, agree to join forces to find the missing Anti-Christ and to stop the war that will end everything. Based on the best- selling novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, Good Omens follows an unlikely duo and their quest to save the world.
The end of the world is coming when ‘Good Omens’ debuts on Amazon this May 31st, 2019!
