As expected, Apple has renewed the expensive new Apple TV+ series ‘See’ ahead of its premiere. This follows the previously announced renewal of Ronald D. Moore‘s space race series ‘For All Mankind’, and was announced in conjunction with the renewal of ‘Dickenson’ (starring Hailee Steinfeld) and ‘The Morning Show’ executive produced by and starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.
Apple is spending a fortune on these shows. ‘See’ alone reportedly costs $15 million per episode. (Roughly the same amount that HBO spent per episode for the final season of ‘Game of Thrones‘.) Apple is believed to be renewing these shows for sophomore installments in an effort to spread out the cost.
Far in a dystopian future, the human race has lost the sense of sight, and society has had to find new ways to interact, build, hunt, and to survive. All of that is challenged when a set of twins is born with sight.
The first season of ‘See’ consists of ten episodes, and presumably, the second will as well. The series was written by Steven Knight (‘Peaky Blinders’) and directed by Francis Lawrence (‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ and ‘Mockingjay’). Knight and Lawrence serve as executive producers along with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kristen Campo.
Jason Momoa headlines this cast as Baba Voss, the father of the twins born with sight. The cast of ‘See’ also includes Alfre Woodard (Paris), Mojean Aria (Gether Bax), Josh Blacker (Witchfinder Warrior), Christian Camargo (Tamacti Jun), Nesta Cooper (Haniwa), Yadira Guevara-Prip (Bow Lion/The Shadow), Hera Hilmar (Maghra), Sylvia Hoeks (Queen Kane), and Archie Madekwe (Kofun).
Momoa previously promised fans of his past work would be happy with ‘See’:
“He’s a great warrior trying to keep his family together — just imagine if Khal Drogo got to live on.”
‘See’ and Apple TV+ will launch on Friday, November 1. It will cost $4.99 per month.
