Fans of Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis’ ‘Once Upon a Time‘ are going to be thrilled that the duo are now set to be in charge of Steven Spielberg’s ‘Amazing Stories’ for Apple! The pair has just completed a seven-year run on their hit show and have previously written for other television successes such as ‘Lost‘, ‘Popular’, and Felicity.’
The door opened for these two to come aboard as showrunners when Bryan Fuller (‘Hannibal’,’American Gods’) stepped away from the series due to “creative differences.” It sounds as if Apple is looking to have a more family-friendly series while Fuller was reportedly looking to give us something closer to ‘Black Mirror’ regarding theme.
While Fuller at one point did name drop potential cast members which included “Patton Oswalt and Kumail Nanjiani and Emily Gordon and Jane Goldman”, it isn’t clear if they had signed on the dotted line or stayed on board after he left the production.
Not much is known about ‘Amazing Stories’ quite yet, but it is being billed as a “reimaging” of the 1980s anthology series which will “transport the audience to worlds of wonder through the lens of today’s most imaginative filmmakers, directors, and writers.”
There is no set launch date quite yet and it is unclear if we’ll be getting new actors between each episode as we did see in ‘Black Mirror’ or if the plan is to give us season-long stories as ‘American Horror Story‘ does over on FX. I suspect it will be the first option.
Are you looking forward to a new take on ‘Amazing Stories’? If the idea is to have the show be family-friendly, do you feel that Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis are the perfect directors to take on the project? Share your thoughts below!
