But the strangest inclusion is the poster for ‘Batwoman’.  In May, the show’s lead, Ruby Rose, quit the show.  She has since been replaced by Javica Leslie, but due to COVID-19, it doesn’t appear that production has resumed on any of these shows, and Leslie may not have even done a costume fitting yet.  So instead… the poster depicts the Batsignal.  Mmmm-kay.  They could have just not done a ‘Batwoman’ poster. Each poster is trimmed with artwork from the comics, to remind […]

At least from the look of things, DC Fandome will be a more interactive experience (I really don’t need to see another Zoom panel) and “attendees” will be able to explore various virtual areas and get teases from upcoming projects like the movies ‘Aquaman’ (the sequel or the movie that came out two years ago?), ‘The Batman’, ‘Black Adam’, ‘The Suicide Squad’, ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, and HBO Max’s re-edit ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’; and the TV shows ‘Batwoman’, ‘Doom Patrol’, ‘Lucifer’, and ‘Pennyworth’. To promote DC Fandome, Warner Brothers has released a rousing trailer, set to John Williams’ ‘Superman: The Movie’ theme song.  Check it out below: These are the virtual areas that fans can explore (via Collider): DC WatchVerse: Here’s where you grab a seat, sit back, and join our virtual audience and become completely engrossed in hours of must-see content from around the world. The posters feature ‘Black Lightning’s Cress Williams, ‘The Flash’s Grant Gustin, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’s Caity Lotz, and ‘Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist, as well as Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, star of the upcoming ‘Superman & Lois’ plus Brec Bassinger, the lead on ‘Stargirl’, another DC show, but one that is not part of the Arrowverse. Yes, there is one glaring omission: Batwoman.  Ruby Rose shockingly quit that series in May.  And while her replacement, Javica Leslie, was hired last month, she would not have had time to suit up and do a photoshoot.  (Although that would’ve been cool, and a big scoop!) Perhaps in order to make up for the absence of a Batwoman, the posters added a different bonus character– BeeBo, the plushy phenomenon from ‘Legends’. Check out the posters below: Though production on all shows has been shut down, it is hoped that ‘The Flash’ (Season 7), ‘Black Lightning’ (S4), ‘Batwoman’ (S2), […]

The CW, producers Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions, and executive producer Eric Wallace issued a joint statement which read: “Hartley Sawyer will not be returning for season seven of The Flash.  In regards to Mr. Sawyer’s posts on social media, we do not tolerate derogatory remarks that target any race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, or sexual orientation. Such remarks are antithetical to our values and policies, which strive and evolve to promote a safe, inclusive, and productive […]

Hopefully, the unfilmed episodes will be completed and aired this year, because The CW has declared that its new season won’t begin until at least January 2021! The CW’s president, Mark Pedowitz, announced: “As we manage the current crisis, we’ve developed a methodical programming strategy for this year and well in to next that we believe works for The CW, our advertisers, affiliates and audience while keeping the health and safety of our productions and creative partners front of mind… [2021 will offer] more original scripted programming throughout the year, week in and week out, than we have […]

Speaking to CBR, Wallace said: “So, if you’re a new reader of the comic books of The Flash, you’d be going, ‘Well, where’s my villain? Where are people like Godspeed and things like that?’  Black Hole being an example, and Bloodwork. So it was a deliberate attempt on my part to say welcome to the new Flash readers. There’s something here for you too. It’s not just people who read The Flash in the Silver […]

Not only is ‘The Flash’ returning, but so is a villain from the past– the Ragdoll (Troy James), who first menaced the residents of Central City in Season 5. Via TVLine: Black Hole hires the suuuuuper-bendy Rag Doll (returning guest star Troy James) to kill Joe. But when Joe refuses to head into WITSEC and stop investigating Carver (guest star Eric Nenninger), it appears — as seen in this first batch of new episodic photos in what feels like far, far too long — that someone very near and dear to the top cop will land in the mysterious organization’s crosshairs. Jonathan is described as “clean-cut, modest and kind-hearted, with an aw-shucks attitude that somehow doesn’t seem dated,” while Jordan is “wildly intelligent, but his mercurial temperament and social anxiety limit his interactions with people, and consequently, Jordan prefers to spend most of his free time alone, playing video games.”  Jordan Elsass will portray Jonathan with Alex Garfin as Jordan. In the meantime, Elsass can be seen in the new Hulu miniseries ‘Little Fires Everywhere’, starring and executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington.  While promoting that, he took a moment to discuss […]

‘The Flash’s Young Barry, Logan Williams, Dead At 16 https://sciencefiction.com/2020/04/04/the-flashs-young-barry-logan-williams-dead-at-16/ https://sciencefiction.com/2020/04/04/the-flashs-young-barry-logan-williams-dead-at-16/#disqus_thread Sat, 04 Apr 2020 19:22:14 +0000 https://sciencefiction.com/?p=352682 The actor who played the younger version of Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen on ‘The Flash’, Logan Williams has shockingly died at the age of 16.  His mother, Marlyse Williams, reportedly spoke to Canada’s Tri-City News and is quoted as saying that she is, understandably, “absolutely devastated.”  No cause of death has been reported. Williams made eight appearances on ‘The Flash’, with the last being Season 2’s “The Man Who Saved Central City” which first aired in 2015.  That same year, he made an appearance on the ‘Supernatural’ episode “Plush” in the role of Max Johnson.  From 2014-16, he recurred on the Hallmark Channel series ‘When Calls the Heart’ as Miles Montgomery.  It seems that he took a break from acting after that. Upon learning of Williams’ passing, his adult counterpart, Grant Gustin took to Instagram to share: “I was so impressed by not only Logan’s talent but his professionalism on set. My thoughts and prayers will be with him and his family during what is I’m sure an unimaginably difficult time for them. Please keep Logan and his family in your thoughts and prayers during what has been a strange and trying time for us all. Sending love to everyone.” […]

This week, The CW is re-airing the massive “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover to help fill the void. Fans of The CW’s longest-running show, ‘Supernatural’, are not so lucky.  It was already a tough pill to swallow that the current 15th season is the last, but now the coronavirus has scrambled that.  Last week’s episode, “Destiny’s Child,” the 13th out of 20, is the last episode that was completed.  That means there are seven more episodes left to film, including the series finale.  But there is no telling how long everything will be shut down. To […]

‘The Flash’ Review: “The Exorcism of Nash Wells” https://sciencefiction.com/2020/03/18/the-flash-review-the-exorcism-of-nash-wells/ https://sciencefiction.com/2020/03/18/the-flash-review-the-exorcism-of-nash-wells/#disqus_thread Wed, 18 Mar 2020 14:00:12 +0000 https://sciencefiction.com/?p=352548 Not-Iris gets help with her partnership with Eva while a speed-limited Barry must help Nash before Thawne gains control in “The Exorcism of Nash Wells” It’s fair to say that, over the last couple years, The Flash has been lacking in the department of compelling Big Bads. Thus, the moment we glimpsed the blurry red eyes and the dulcet reverberations of the Reverse-Flash, it was something to get excited about. Whether in the guise of Tom Cavanaugh or Matt Letscher, Eobard Thawne has been far-and-away the best of Barry Allen’s adversaries. “The Exorcism of Nash Wells” is a testament to this as Thawne works his nefarious mental machinations to break down an already vulnerable Nash to take control of his doppelganger’s body, connect back into his Negative Speed Force, and ultimately destroy Barry Allen. It’s an apt plotline for Thawne considering that his long-standing foe (and our protagonist) faces a similar challenge on the opposite end of the spectrum. If there were any doubts after last week as to the effect the dissolution of the Speed Force would have on Barry, “Exorcism” makes it even more clear. With a finite amount of Speed Force remaining out in the ether, Barry […]

Among the Netflix shows that have shut down is ‘Stranger Things’, which JUST got started on production of the fourth season last week.   Among the Apple TV+ shows that have shut down are ‘See’, ‘For All Mankind’, ‘Servant’, and ‘Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet’.  Apple TV+ just launched late last year, so it is still building its audience.  Who knows if this delay will cost them subscribers? Warner Brothers has also shut down all production on current series and pilots.  That includes nearly everything on The CW, including ‘The Flash’ and ‘Batwoman’, as well as the pilot for ‘The Lost Boys’, a show that has been […]
