Prepare Yourself For The Next Great Spy Thriller Movie: ‘Tetris?’

There are certain video games that have a natural path that can be traced in terms of what a move about that game would be about. Assassin’s Creed and time-travel undercover ops. Uncharted and a treasure-hunting mystery. Sonic the Hedgehog and a fast blue animal with rings. Super Mario Bros and plumbing. And the like. So, when the news came down about an upcoming film called ‘Tetris,’ it makes one’s brain start to think of the possibilities: will this be a movie along the same lines as Hasbro’s now-scuttled plans for turning its games into film properties? Will it be a tale about giant blocky alien ships invading Earth, and the only way for us to defeat them is to get them lined up next to each other so our missiles can make them “disappear?” (I’d watch that, probably.) Could it be a horror movie based on an ancient puzzle, and when the pieces align just so, it sends the user into a shadowy nether-realm? (I’d definitely watch that.) Video games have evolved to a point where anyone with a smartphone can play brand-new games with cutting-edge graphics right in the palm of their hands. Dedicated video-game consoles still exist, of course, for the more “hard-core” gaming fans out there, and the concept of the console itself is nothing new, dating back several decades. Two of the biggest early players in the video-game console explosion of the 1980s and 1990s are Nintendo and Sega, and their not-always-above-board business-fueled rivalry is being freshly presented in the new documentary ‘Console Wars,’ coming exclusively to CBS All Access on September 23rd of this year. This documentary is not to be confused with ‘High Score,’ the six-episode limited series on Netflix that takes a more “30,000-foot view” of the beginnings and history of the entire video-game business. Rather, ‘Console Wars’ will be turning its focus squarely on industry mega-giant Nintendo and their burgeoning feud with upstart console contender Sega, as the two companies famously clashed time and time again over customers, marketing, and sales tactics in the console explosion of the 1990s. Toy Fair 2020: Wicked Cool Toys Enters The Fight With ‘Halo’

In a fairly unexpected move, last fall the team at Wicked Cool Toys (a recently acquired subsidiary of Jazwares) recently announced that they had taken over the master toy license for the iconic ‘Halo’ video game franchise! Fans were eagerly awaiting more news following the announcement, but sadly were left waiting for news that would never come. Until now that is! This year at New Toy Toy Fair 2020 Wicked Cool Toys was proud to show off their all-new ‘Halo’ themed products and while they said there was stuff they couldn’t even show us yet, we were mindblown because it certainly didn’t look like they were holding anything back! ‘Halo’ is an all-new license for Wicked Cool Toys and there have been a number of other companies that held the license in the past including McFarlane Toys and Mattel, which means that Wicked Cool Toys has some big shoes to fill if they want to make their mark on the brand. Corporate greed and the fate of the human race come head-to-head in Obsidian Entertainment’s new science fiction action roleplaying game ‘The Outer Worlds.’ Can just one person alter the course of mankind’s existence beyond the stars? At the beginning of this galactic quest, the main character is mostly nameless. Dialog boxes will refer to the character by whatever name the player has chosen. Spoken dialog, however, never uses specific names aside from terms like ‘captain’ or ‘ma’am’ and ‘sir.’ For the sake of this review, we will call the main character by the name given during the playthrough: Captain Rio. The year is 2355. Captain Rio is awakened from an extended stay in suspended animation to find that the vessel (The Hope) that holds her and several other colonizers is adrift in space. A faulty skip drive is to blame, and no help was ever sent. For decades the ship floated along, and The corporation that funds the colonizing efforts did nothing. NYCC 2018: Best Cosplay From New York Comic Con

Cosplay is defined as “the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game”, but is that really all that it means? Each and every year at countless conventions around the world, fans turn up decked out in some of the best costumes the world has ever seen as all of their favorite characters from every corner of popular culture. Whether it’s from comics, movies, television or gaming, there is an endless number of possibilities that people can cosplay as, but why exactly do they do it? This week we were live on the show floor at of the Javits Center in New York City for New York Comic Con 2018!
