Mark Millar has reacted to a fan’s post on Twitter in which the fan points out two instances where the writer appears to have predicted the future.  First was a scene in his ‘Ultimates’ comic, in which he predicted that Samuel L. Jackson would play the cinematic version of Nick Fury.  (Isn’t that kind of a cheat, though?  Considering that Millar and artist Bryan Hitch intentionally designed their “Ultimate” version of Fury based on Jackson.)  In the second, the Ultimate Fury states “This nose has been smashed more times than Robert Downey Jr.” referring to the actor who has notoriously struggled with substance abuse in the past, once entering the home of a stranger and falling asleep in a bed in one of the children’s rooms.

Millar confirmed his psychic ability and tossed out another prediction– that Taron Egerton would play Wolverine in upcoming Marvel Studios films.

(Hang on a sec.  I’m kind of reeling from the fact that ‘The Ultimates’ was published in 2002.  Hoooooo boy!)

Millar, of course, wrote the comic books ‘The Secret Service’ which were adapted into the ‘Kingsman’ films.  Egerton’s big break came from playing young spy-in-training Gary “Eggsy” Unwin in these movies.  It seems that Millar sees something in Egerton that makes him think he’d make a great replacement for Hugh Jackman, now that Marvel Studios is set to relaunch the ‘X-Men’ movie franchise.

Egerton addressed rumors that he was in the running to play Wolverine, basically saying that he knew nothing about it.

“That one I think is just a rumour. As far as I’m aware it’s unfounded. I don’t know if I’m quite grisly enough…  I mean if the people at Marvel think I am then great, let’s go. But I think there are probably better candidates. But I would love to be involved with that world somewhere.”

Fans would love that too!

Time will tell if Millar’s newest prediction comes true.  Would you like to see Egerton as Wolverine?
