Why hello there fellow toy collectors! Welcome to another all new edition of Toy News Tuesday! Just on the off chance that you’re new around here, we’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! There’s no sense in wasting time, so lets delve right into the Toy News for the week of October 28th, 2014!
Welcome To Jurass-Brick Park
Have you ever wanted to build your very own ‘Jurassic Park’? Well soon you can! Sort of. LEGO has announced that they’ve partnered with Universal to produce license ‘Jurassic World’ building sets to coincide with the films release next year! Currently, there are only five sets announced on schedule to be released next May, but it’s entirely possible that we’ll be seeing more if the film and building sets are a hit. That’s right people, not only will you be able to build your own ‘Jurassic World’, but you’ll be able to add a THIRD Chris Pratt LEGO Minifigure to your collection alongside your Starlord from ‘Guardians of teh Galaxy’ and Emmett from ‘The Lego Movie’.
One more added bonus? Now that the licensing has been all cleared up, ‘Jurassic Park’ building sets may now be submitted to the LEGO Ideas page! To explain why that’s awesome, the LEGO Ideas site is the only official site where fans can submit their own ideas to LEGO for possible production! Once a submitted set has garnered 10,000 votes, the crew at LEGO take it into consideration as a possible building set to be produced for the masses! One user already has a set based on the iconic Jurassic Park Front Gate from the first film that has over twelve-hundred votes towards the 10K goal! Fans can only hope that we see some awesome new LEGO sets based off the first three films in this classic franchise. We saw sets based on ‘Jurassic Park III’ back in 2001, but it’d certainly be interesting to see what LEGO can do now with their newer modern designs! Not to mention, I don’t think anybody would say no to a ‘LEGO: Jurassic Park’ video game, right?

Be sure to check out the video below along with the full release from DST
Every year, the spirit of Halloween takes over the world for 31 glorious days, and Diamond Select Toys unleashes a new batch of Monsters! Based on Universal Studios’ iconic horror films of the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s, DST’s 7-inch scale Universal Monsters action figures have become an annual tradition, and now they’re starring in their first-ever stop-motion animated short film!
Starring some of the toy line’s most famous characters, “Trick or Treat” was animated by Alex Kropinak, the animator behind Marvel.com’s “What The…?!” Using a combination of stop-motion photography and computer graphics, Kropinak brought to life the actual action figures, sculpted by Gabriel Marquez, Rudy Garcia and Jean St. Jean. The film’s cast includes the Mummy, the Wolfman, Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein’s Monster, the Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula and the Metaluna Mutant.
Kropinak even included a cameo appearance by Diamond Select’s first-ever original concept action figure, Van Helsing. Designed by DST President Chuck Terceira and sculptor Jean St. Jean, the famous monster hunter received his own 7-inch scale figure this year, which was released at the same time as the newest Universal Monsters assortment. The film was co-written by Kropinak and DST Marketing Supervisor Zach Oat, who previously collaborated on ToyFare magazine’s Twisted ToyFare Theatre.
