You would think that after the ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ wrapped that if the Russo Brothers were going to tackle another comic project it would also be related to Marvel Studios. You’d be as wrong as I was. No, the duo is all set to work with Valiant Entertainment and will be producing ‘Quantum and Woody’ to bring the series to the small screen. Hopefully, this doesn’t spell the end of Anthony and Joe working with Marvel Studios because everything that they’ve touched so far has been a fun film in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.
While they made their names big in both ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ the pair had their roots in television from hits like ‘Arrested Development’ and ‘Community.’ With their history, it isn’t too surprising to see them working with Mike Larocca and Valiant’s Dinesh Shamdasani to create this series. Joining them as Executive Producers are Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari from ‘Ant-Man’ fame. It sounds like they aren’t too busy with ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ to fit this into their schedules which should mean that we’ll be in for something highly entertaining.
If you’re unfamiliar with the comic, it was created by Christopher Priest and MD Bright with quite a long run behind it at this point. The two leads “are bickering, interracial, adopted brothers accidentally granted superpowers in a laboratory explosion while investigating the death of their father.” Eric and Woody Henderson were adopted brothers, best friends, smart, but sibling rivalry tore them apart until this accident.
Valiant has been making a big push to get their properties developed for both the big and small screen with Sony Pictures set to bring ‘Harbinger‘ and ‘Bloodshot‘ out with both ‘Archer & Armstrong’ and ‘Shadowman’ also in development. For the small screen, it looks like The CW is already working to tackle ‘Dr. Mirage‘ which could indicate a potential home for this series as well.
At this time there has been no word as to how connected all of Valiant’s properties will be.
Are you looking forward to checking out ‘Quantum and Woody’ when the series eventually gets moving? What network do you hope that this will land on? Are you excited at how much talent from Marvel Studios will be involved in the series or wish some newcomers were being given a shot? Share your thoughts below!
