Mark Ruffalo Hasn't Met With Kevin Feige About 'She-Hulk' Yet
Marvel Studios/Disney

Marvel Studios and Disney+ have announced a TV series starring the She-Hulk, a.k.a. Jennifer Walters, the cousin of the Incredible Hulk, who gained similar super strength after Bruce gave her a blood transfusion.  So if she’s getting a show, and that’s her origin, obviously Mark Ruffalo has to appear in order to donate his life-saving, Gamma irradiated blood to get things started, right?

Most likely, but it hasn’t been set in stone yet.  Ruffalo is promoting his newest film, ‘Dark Waters’, and while speaking to People, he said that he had not yet sat down with Kevin Feige to hash out his involvement with ‘She-Hulk’.

“I don’t know… I’m supposed to go talk to… the great Mr. Feige to see if there’s some place [for the Hulk]”

When asked if this was something he wanted to do, he replied, “Sure, why not?  It’s been a great ride.”

Originally, in the comics, the She-Hulk was distinct from the Hulk at the time (circa 1980) because she did not turn into a rampaging monster in Hulk mode.  Rather, she retained her normal intelligence and personality, and, in fact, very shortly after becoming She-Hulk, she remained green at all times, rarely, if ever, reverting back.

The Hulk’s fate in the MCU has been in question since ‘Avengers: Endgame’.  The character’s arm was terribly injured after he used the Infinity Gauntlet to bring back those that got dusted in ‘Infinity War’.  Marvel/Disney can’t make any solo ‘Hulk’ movies, because of a contractual snag with Universal Pictures (makers of 2003’s ‘Hulk’, directed by Ang Lee, starring Eric Bana).  But while Hulk was injured on screen, he didn’t die or turn 100 years old, so he could still resurface.  However, details about Ruffalo’s contract are unknown.  Is he required to come back, or has he fulfilled his deal?

At any rate, Feige announced the ‘She-Hulk’ series at D23.  Considering that Disney has the next couple of years mapped out, ‘She-Hulk’ isn’t likely to arrive until 2022 or later.

Emmy Award-winning writer Jessica Gao (‘Rick & Morty’) is set to pen ‘She-Hulk’.  The series is expected to consist of six episodes.
