Earlier this week, X-Men fans were treated to the first look at Kodi Smit-McPhee as the lovable blue teleporting elf known as Nightcrawler. The younger version of Kurt Wagner that will appear in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘ was sporting some awesome 80s attire, but director Bryan Singer just shared a new photo featuring two of his other young stars taking the vintage clothing cake.
Previously, Singer announced that a few classic X-Men from previous movies would be popping up in his latest Marvel mutant movie including Jean Grey and Jubilee, who will be played by ‘Game of Thrones’ star Sophie Turner and newcomer Lana Condor respectively. Now, thanks to the filmmaker’s Instagram, we can see our first official looks at the two X-ladies on set looking very time period appropriate. Take a look at the post below:
As you can see, the ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ costume department is on point. Not only are the characters sporting their trademark looks thanks to Jubilee’s yellow jacket and Jean’s vibrant red hair, but they’re also very much in fashion for the time period. It also helps that they’re hanging out in a mall, which was the place to be for teenagers back in the day.
Now that we have the looks down, I’m curious to see how the actual characters turn out. I know that it’s still very early in Jean’s timeline, but will we get any glimpses of that Phoenix fire that consumes her later in life? And last time we saw Jubilee in one of these movies, wasn’t she a student at Professor Xavier’s school getting saved by Storm? Maybe the events of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ affected when she was born. Either way, it’ll be great to see them re-enter the fray alongside the new versions of other old favorites from Fox’s X-Men cinematic universe.
What do you think about the first looks at Jubilee and Jean Grey from ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’? Are you a fan of Sophie Turner and Lana Condor’s awesome 80s attire? Let us know in the comments.
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Oscar Isaac opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
