After being generally regarded as one of the highlights of ‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ Wonder Woman will next be making a big-screen appearance in her own solo movie, slated for release in 2017. While some details about the plot of the film have been loosely revealed from previous interviews – including the fact that the film will take place chronologically before ‘Batman v. Superman,’ primarily during the time of World War I – the ‘Wonder Woman’ solo film is currently in principal photography, and now we’ve been given a glimpse at a scene as it’s being shot, thanks to an entrepreneuring drone owner.
The footage you’re about to see was shown on an Italian news station, as ‘Wonder Woman’ is currently shooting scenes in Matera, Italy, which portrays the setting of Themyscira, the mythical Amazonian home of Princess Diana and her peers. Although the original owner of the video appears to be anonymous – probably a good idea, knowing how movie studios many times go after leakers and paparazzi with litigious ferocity – the clip definitely shows cast and crew in mid-shooting of several scenes in what appears to be a marketplace. Take a look for yourself:
The theatrical release date for ‘Wonder Woman’ recently changed, getting bumped on DC’s schedule to June 2, 2017 in the United States. In addition to Gal Godot portraying the titular heroine, the film will also star Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Lisa Loven Kongsli as Lieutenant Menalippe, and Lucy Davis as Etta Candy. David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Danny Huston, Ewen Bremmer, and Saïd Taghmaoui will also co-star in as-of-yet unknown roles. Just a few months after her solo film, Wonder Woman will also be seen in cinemas in the ‘Justice League, Part One’ film, slated for US release on November 17, 2017.
