When they first announced that ‘The Woman in Black: Angel of Death’ was being worked on and wouldn’t be a direct continuation from the first film, I will admit that I was a little concerned. Without Daniel Radcliff helming the film as he did in the remake of ‘The Woman in Black,’ it really felt like a straight to disc low budget cash in.
The first teaser made me question if that would be the case and now I’m still wondering. The teasers have quite a creepy vibe and clearly the studio is putting a solid production budget behind the film.
Of course the cast that includes Phoebe Fox (‘War Book’), Jeremy Irvine (‘War Horse’), Helen McCrory (‘Hugo‘, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows‘), and Oaklee Pendergast (‘The Impossible’) could have told us that. Tom Harper (‘The Scouting Book for Boys ‘) will direct the film from a screenplay written by Jon Croker (‘Paddington’). The screenplay is also based on an original sequel’s outline written by Susan Hill, the original author of ‘The Woman in Black’.

As bombs rain down on London during the Blitz of World War II, a group of school children are evacuated with Eve, their young and beautiful schoolteacher, to the safety of the English countryside. Taken to an old and empty estate, cut-off by a causeway from the mainland, they are left at Eel Marsh House.
One by one the children begin acting strangely and Eve, with the help of local military commander Harry, discovers that the group has awoken a dark force even more terrifying and evil than the city’s air raids. Eve must now confront her own demons to save the children and escape the wrath of The Woman in Black.
So, not a creepy kid but creepy things happening to a kid. Well, kids that is. As a parent, I think this has quite a larger factor in what I find scary than I would have when I was younger.
