With all of the latest clips, storyboards, trailers, and featurettes for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘ you could almost feel like you’ve seen most of the movie. While they are no longer increasing my excitement for the film, they haven’t quite dulled it (yet). This featurette, however, does tease a couple new pieces of information.
While we already suspected the rumors about Osborn and his corportation may be true, the video below does give some insight on Peter’s father that could, when combined with other pieces of information, give us some great insight on the future of the franchise. The more information they give us, the more they are making this look like the direction of future Spider-Man movies may be based on parts of the ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ comics. Of course, with how well it has worked for the Disney/Marvel Cinematic Universe it should be no surprise that Sony would want to go the same route.

So we get a few teasers that indicate that Peter’s father, Richard Parker, worked at Oscorp. There have been a slew of back stories that have placed Richard Parker as a scientist whose work has changed the course of Peter’s life. Knowing a future Venom themed movie is in the works, I wonder if this will be a nod to the story in ‘Ultimate Marvel’ where Peter’s father co-created the Venom Symbiote with another scientist (Eddie Brock’s father) instead of it being an alien. Also we get a great tease that all of the evil in Oscorp is from Osborn trying to use science, both ethical and unethical, to fight a disease he is dying from to extend his own life. I have to say I would much prefer they use the Ultimate story line of Venom’s origin over the symbiote being from an alien race.
