Around this time last year, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ director Bryan Singer revealed through Twitter that a new cut of the film that brought him back to Fox’s Marvel mutant movies would be released that features Anna Paquin’s Rogue in a more prominent role. After all, she did play a much bigger part in the original cut of the film, but her parts were left on the cutting room floor for the sake of a better flow. Now, the alternate cut is finally ready for viewing and a recently released international trailer shows off some differences between this new version and last year’s summer blockbuster.

Previously, we learned from Simon Kinberg that Rogue played a big part in a subplot involving Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan’s versions of Professor X and Magneto. They were originally meant to retrieve her from captivity, but due to the amount of action already packed into the movie, something had to go and unfortunately that side mission was it. However, all that has been put back in for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past – Rogue Cut’ and now you can see how the plot differs thanks to a new trailer that you can check out below, followed by the film’s synopsis:

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’. The beloved characters from the original ‘X-Men’ film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from ‘X-Men: First Class’, in an epic battle that must change the past to save our future.

At first, this trailer definitely resembles the original theatrical trailer, but then once it gets to the end, we get to see Rogue in action (potentially alongside Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine) and in costume (aside from the promotional images released prior to the movie) at last. Though it’s not much to go off of, hopefully more promotional material comes out before the new cut hits shelves next month on July 14th.
