Holy shake up Batman! Just when you thought all was well in the Arrowverse, news surfaced that Ruby Rose has quit the CW series ‘Batwoman’! Rose announced her departure in a statement released on Tuesday, two days after the Season 1 finale of the series: “I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season. This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles. “I am beyond appreciative to [exec producers] Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Caroline Dries for not only giving me this incredible opportunity, but for welcoming me into the DC universe they have so beautifully created. Ryan Reynolds Set To Star In And Produce Movie Based On ‘Dragon’s Lair’ For Netflix

Ryan Reynolds will next be seen… uh, sometime this year (hopefully)… in ‘Free Guy’, in which he plays a character named Guy who discovers that he is an NPC in a violent video game that respawns every day just to go through the same war zone as the day before until he discovers a pair of goggles that make him a more integral part of the gameplay. And he’s following that project up with another video game-based film– an adaptation of ’80s arcade staple ‘Dragon’s Lair’. After a year of negotiations, Netflix has landed the rights to turn this animated game into a film, and Reynolds is in talks to star and produce. Should he sign-on (and it sounds as though he is close) he will produce through his Maximum Effort banner. Also producing is Roy Lee via Vertigo Entertainment and Trevor Engelson via Underground Films. Reynolds recently starred in the Netflix original movie ‘6 Underground’, directed by Michael Bay. If you haven’t bought the Blu-ray or DVD version of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,’ Disney has released this little teaser tempting you as to why you should. The studio has uploaded the first 10 minutes of their documentary “The Skywalker Legacy” which is part of the bonus features included in the home video version. Regardless of how you feel about the final film in the Skywalker Saga, this video is really worth checking out, if only to see some of the archival footage from the original trilogy that’s included. The clip begins with some fans visiting the on-location site of the Tatooine set in Mexico as they talk to the filmmakers about how excited they are about the ‘Star Wars’ films. Crazy that in those days you didn’t need a drone or helicopter to get near the set, right? What was a bit humorous was how one fan said, “By the time all 9 films are done, it’s gonna be like… I’m afraid to see what you guys are going to come up with.” I seriously want to track this guy down to see what he thinks now! AMC And Regal Theater Chains Announce “Social Distancing” Measures To Prevent The Spread Of The Coronavirus

The COVID-19 coronavirus can be passed through both the air and on surfaces, and the latest studies show that it can linger in the air for hours. To prevent the continued spread of the illness, the two largest cinema chains, AMC Theaters and Regal Cinemas, are instituting new “social distancing” measures. It’s going to take a huge bite out of the box office, but both chains will now only sell 50% of available seats at all showings. Can you imagine if this happened on ‘Avengers: Endgame’ opening weekend? On top of limiting the number of seats sold, both chains announced “enhanced theater cleaning” and a policy of instructing any employee that feels sick to stay home. In a statement, AMC wrote: “As the industry leader, AMC is taking aggressive, nationwide steps to provide additional space between guests within all its U.S. theatres, to keep its theatres clean and to discourage those with health concerns from coming to its theatres.” The major studios are steadily postponing the openings of some of their biggest movies for the time being. Wizard World Announces “Virtual” Comic Conventions In The Wake Of Coronavirus Cancellations

In the wake of so many event cancellations due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, con organizers Wizard World have announced plans for “Wizard World Virtual Experiences,” which is hoped to bring the major con experience to fans in the safety of their own homes. The first will take place later this month. Via the internet, fans will be able to “purchase a personal one-minute video chat, :15- or :30-second personalized video recording, signed 8×10 photos and signed memorabilia, group chats, and exclusive limited edition art.” There will also be live video panels that will be free and accessible via www.wizardworld.com and “other social media platforms.” These events will take place on specified dates and times. Wizard Entertainment, Inc. CEO John D. Maatta stated: “‘Wizard World Virtual Experiences’ will bring the Wizard World experience to fans across the globe, wherever they live. ‘Star Trek: Picard’ Review: It’s Not So Easy To Fix The “Broken Pieces”

After last week’s nostalgia-heavy and emotional “Nepenthe”, Picard needed to turn the page from its expertly crafted character-heavy focus and home in on the overall narrative. “Broken Pieces” does just that, splitting time between character development while unraveling more of the plot surrounding the Zhat Vash undertaking. If there was a shortcoming this week, it was the over reliance of coincidence and connection between seemingly unrelated events. A great example of this is Rios’ pain: still haunted by what occurred on the Ibn Majin and after the shock of meeting Soji, he unburdens himself to Raffi and then Picard. After being contacted by two emissaries, Beautiful Flower and Jana, Rios’ captain Alonso Vandermeer was given orders to execute the two guests by none other than Commodore Oh. Grief-stricken by his actions, Vandermeer eventually kills himself. It’s taken nine years but now Rios has the answers for his captain’s actions. While we gain a better understanding of the Zhat Vash that goes beyond just an ardent hatred for synthetic life, we see, instead, it is born from experiencing the potential tragedy suffered by a long-dead civilization who, hundreds of thousands of years ago, fell to their own artificial creations. Ryan Murphy has revealed the tiniest of clues about the upcoming tenth season of ‘American Horror Story’. The show’s co-creator shared a poster on Instagram that depicts a large body of water in the background, which disappears into the horizon. In the foreground, a pair of hands desperately cling to a grassy cliff. It is rendered in pale sepia tones, just a shade away from being in black and white. This is in line with a previous short video clip Murphy released, which announced the new season’s cast, which welcomes ex-child star Macaulay Culkin, as well as returning regulars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, and Finn Wittrock. That video was in black and white and depicted waves crashing onto a sandy shore, and was set to the song “Dead of Night” by Orville Peck. ‘Loki’ Adds Richard E. Grant In A Mystery Role

Disney+’s ‘Loki’ has added Richard E. Grant to its cast, although as is to be expected, it was not revealed what role he will be playing. The series was developed by writer Michael Waldron (‘Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’) and will be directed by Kate Herron (‘Sex Education’). Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as the time anomaly version of the trickster god from ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Sophia Di Martino appears to be playing Loki as a woman, based on paparazzi photos from the set. Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Owen Wilson are also part of the cast, but their roles are unknown. Cailey Fleming and Sasha Lane are also rumored to be part of the cast but are currently unconfirmed. ‘Loki’ is expected to arrive on Disney+ next spring, following the releases of ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ and ‘WandaVision’, both of which are expected later this year. ‘Loki’ will be followed by ‘Hawkeye’, as well as three shows featuring new characters, ‘Moon Knight’, ‘Ms. Marvel’, and ‘She-Hulk’. Roberto Orci Is Writing A Mystery ‘Spider-Man’ Spin-Off Movie For Sony

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ co-writer, Roberto Orci, has been tapped to write an unspecified ‘Spider-Man’ spin-off movie for Sony, with Executive Vice President Palak Patel overseeing. This was reported by The Wrap, and literally that is ALL that was announced. In February, a RUMOR emerged that Sony might be developing a movie about ‘Spider-Woman’, but I kind of doubt this is what Orci would have been hired to write. In addition to ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, Roberto Orci co-wrote the screenplays for the ‘Star Trek’ and its two sequels, and movies such as ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ and ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’. He has also created or co-created the TV shows ‘Fringe’, ‘Sleepy Hollow’, and ‘Hawaii Five-O’. For the majority of his professional career, Orci was partnered with Alex Kurtzman, but that collaboration ended in 2014. Netflix Orders A Third And Final Season Of ‘Lost In Space’

‘Lost in Space’ is venturing out for another adventure in Season 3, but hopefully, that will see the Robinson family returning “Home from Space,” as it will be the last chapter for this Netflix series, which has been canceled. Thankfully for viewers, it seems that this show was only conceived to run for three seasons, so at least it will get a decent wrap-up instead of ending on a cliffhanger like so many other shows. This version of ‘Lost in Space’ was based on a TV series of the same name that also aired for three seasons, from 1965-68. According to showrunner and executive producer Zack Estrin: “From the beginning, we’ve always viewed this particular story of The Robinsons as a trilogy. It’s also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode — if anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission — it’s Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr. Smith… and The Robot. ‘TRON’ just can’t get a foot in the door. The groundbreaking science fiction epic has been getting brief spurts of life throughout the past four decades. None of those entries helped materialize a sustainable film or TV series. In 2010, we had the atheistically amazing ‘TRON: Legacy,’ which laid the groundwork for future installments. Fast forward then years, and we’ve had a couple of games and the short-living ‘TRON: Uprising.’ With limitless potential, why is it so hard for Disney to galvanize the franchise? Well, Disney was indeed trying to restart things on the down-low, according to ComicBook.com. ‘American Crime’ scribe John Ridley was working on something ‘TRON’ related for the streaming service Disney+ until recently. It turns out that the project was not in a state to be officially announced. It is being reported that Ridley was actively developing it to an unknown level of completion, but it is now no more. SPOILER ALERT: There is some information contained here that could be considered SPOILERS for ‘Black Widow’ so proceed with caution. The latest ‘Black Widow’ trailer is here and sheds more light on the film’s plot and the involvement of The Taskmaster, the film’s big villain. It seems that he now runs the Red Room, the Russian agency responsible for Natasha’s (Scarlett Johansson) role as a super-spy and assassin, a life she left behind when she joined the Avengers. But now she’s back and it looks as though she is fighting to save her “family”– Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz), and Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour). Unlike Black Widow, it seems that the Taskmaster’s new soldiers are not free thinkers, but almost like robots under “his” control. There is some hint that the Taskmaster will have the same powers as “he” has in the comics, to mimic any physical abilities “he” witnesses. ***SPOILER ALERT*** It has been leaked that Weisz’s character’s full name is Melina Vostokoff, the real name of the Black Widow enemy, the Iron Maiden, in the comic books. ‘Chernobyl’ Creator Craig Mazin Is Turning ‘The Last Of Us’ Into A Series For HBO

After a planned film adaptation of the Playstation videogame ‘The Last of Us’ fell apart, the property is now headed to HBO as a series, with Craig Mazin, who created the award-winning miniseries ‘Chernobyl,’ executive producing. Neil Druckmann, who wrote and directed the game and penned the screenplay for the planned movie, is attached to write and executive produce the new series. HBO’s Carolyn Strauss is also executive producing with Naughty Dog president Evan Wells. In just over a week, the wait will be over, as the Season 3 premiere of ‘Westworld’ will arrive on HBO. With the new season about to kick off, the network has released an assortment of new photos of the cast members from the first new episode, as well as the titles and synopses for the first four episodes, complete with directors and writers. The ‘Doctor Who’ Holiday Special Will Be The Final Voyage For Tosin Cole And Bradley Walsh

The Doctor will say goodbye to two of her three Companions in this year’s holiday special. Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole are leaving the series following that event. Both were cast at the same time as the show’s current lead, Jodie Whittaker, in the show’s eleventh season, with Walsh playing Graham O’Brien, the step-grandfather of Cole’s Ryan Sinclair. Both joined The Doctor on her missions following the death of Grace, Graham’s wife, and Ryan’s grandmother. Though their relationship was tense at first, particularly on the part of Ryan, their many adventures have brought them closer together. An inside source revealed to The Mirror: “Two years is a long time in the world of Doctor Who. Yaz will be back but Christmas will be the last outing for Ryan and Graham.” The holiday special has already been filmed, and it is known that the principal antagonists will be the Daleks.
