Holy shake up Batman! Just when you thought all was well in the Arrowverse, news surfaced that Ruby Rose has quit the CW series ‘Batwoman’! Rose announced her departure in a statement released on Tuesday, two days after the Season 1 finale of the series: “I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season. This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles. “I am beyond appreciative to [exec producers] Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Caroline Dries for not only giving me this incredible opportunity, but for welcoming me into the DC universe they have so beautifully created. While some people panic with the news of having to self-quarantine, others are putting it to good use. Take George R.R. Martin, for example. Martin took to his blog to assure fans that he is doing well and has been “spending more time in Westeros than in the real world, writing every day.” “For those of you who may be concerned for me personally… yes, I am aware that I am very much in the most vulnerable population, given my age and physical condition. But I feel fine at the moment, and we are taking all sensible precautions. I am off by myself in a remote isolated location, attended by one of my staff, and I’m not going in to town or seeing anyone. Truth be told, I am spending more time in Westeros than in the real world, writing every day. If you haven’t bought the Blu-ray or DVD version of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,’ Disney has released this little teaser tempting you as to why you should. The studio has uploaded the first 10 minutes of their documentary “The Skywalker Legacy” which is part of the bonus features included in the home video version. Regardless of how you feel about the final film in the Skywalker Saga, this video is really worth checking out, if only to see some of the archival footage from the original trilogy that’s included. The clip begins with some fans visiting the on-location site of the Tatooine set in Mexico as they talk to the filmmakers about how excited they are about the ‘Star Wars’ films. Crazy that in those days you didn’t need a drone or helicopter to get near the set, right? What was a bit humorous was how one fan said, “By the time all 9 films are done, it’s gonna be like… I’m afraid to see what you guys are going to come up with.” I seriously want to track this guy down to see what he thinks now! Stephen Amell has left the Arrowverse… for good. In a time when everyone is social distancing and self-quarantining, Amell has taken to Instagram to keep in touch with his fans (something he announced that he would be doing every day due to the coronavirus pandemic). During Tuesday’s Instagram Live session, he was asked if he would ever consider reprising his role or guest star in any of the other Arrowverse shows. “No, I’m done. That was good. It was a good eight years but it was time to be done.” While not the answer fans wanted to hear, his reaction is understandable. Amell has been starring as Oliver Queen for 8 seasons and the series finale gave such a memorable sendoff that having him return would lessen its sentiments. Lyle Waggoner, Star Of ‘Wonder Woman’ And ‘The Carol Burnett Show,’ Dead At 84

Lyle Waggoner, best known to genre fans as Major Steve Trevor in the 1970s series ‘Wonder Woman,’ has passed away. He was 84. According to his son, Jason, the former actor died Tuesday morning after battling a long illness. Following a stint in the Army and working as a door-to-door salesman in Kansas, Waggoner’s rugged good looks didn’t go unnoticed and he was encouraged to head to Hollywood. While he made his TV debut on an episode of ‘Gunsmoke,’ it was a role that he didn’t get that would surprise comic fans. Waggoner actually auditioned for the role of the Caped Crusader himself, Batman, and he was on the top of the studios’ list of actors even going so far as to film a screen test with Peter Deyell as Dick Grayson/Robin. Of course, it would be Adam West, whose deadpan ability to make even the most absurd believable, who would finally nab the role. Stardom would not elude him for too long as in 1967, Waggoner landed at ‘The Carol Burnett Show’ as an announcer and straight man to Carol Burnett. ‘Black Widow’ Release Postponed Amidst Coronavirus Fears

In what shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone anymore, Disney has announced that they will be delaying the premiere of their first Marvel tentpole film ‘Black Widow’ until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film was originally set to drop in theaters on May 1. Disney has already delayed ‘The New Mutants’ (will that film ever get released?) as well as ‘Mulan’ and with theaters shuttering and government officials recommending that people stay home, the move was inevitable. Marvel movies have become big moneymakers for the studios, so it would be commonsense for them to release the films at a time they can make a profit, and international box office attendance is a big portion of that success (especially in China). All US Regal Theaters To Close Down Indefinitely Due To Coronavirus Outbreak

Just days after announcing they were changing to a new “social distancing” policy for moviegoers, Regal Cinemas has announced they will be closing all their theaters across the US effective Tuesday, March 17. The move came after a White House press conference where it was advised that all gatherings of more than 10 people be avoided. As it is, several governors have already announced that theaters within their state would be shut down to help prevent massive contamination among the population. The coronavirus is determined to let us know to take it seriously. When news broke that Tom Hanks and his wife Rita had contracted the virus, it shocked fans and the industry alike. Now it seems the virus has taken hold of another well-loved actor, Idris Elba. Elba went on Twitter today to announce he decided to get tested after he found out on Friday he came in contact with someone who had just tested positive. It was then that he decided to self-quarantine and get himself tested. As he stated, “I didn’t have any symptoms. I got tested because I realized I was exposed to someone who had also tested positive. I found out last Friday that they were tested positive. I quarantined myself and got a test immediately and got the results back today.” He continued to explain, “I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. The ‘Doctor Who’ finale of Season 12 is upon us and with the penultimate episode, “Ascension of the Cybermen,” leaving us to wonder if any of the Doctor’s companions will be returning for another season, someone who will return (besides Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor) will be the current series showrunner Chris Chibnall. “I do know I’m coming back for a third season,” Chibnall told Entertainment Weekly. “Yeah, absolutely. Chibnall’s first season with Whittaker as the first female Doctor left fans divided. With a new Doctor and the declaration that his first run would all be standalone episodes with no familiar foes, Season 11 was a bumpy regeneration for the series. When Season 12 was announced, Chibnall seemingly embraced what worked in the past and re-established two-part episodes and brought back the Cyberman and the Judoon. Two years since the Season 11 finale would pass before the series would return, but the wait was worth it with the surprising return of the Master and Captain Jack. The international trailer for ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ is here and it contains a different ending to that in the US version which dropped earlier this week. In both versions, the kids are shown firing their Proton Packs, but the new clip offers a glimpse of them testing them out. You can watch this alternate cut below: For comparison, you can watch the US cut here. As you can see, the Internation trailer omits the story element about the daily quakes plaguing Summerville. Disney Is Moving Forward With ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’ Reboot With Josh Gad And Original Director Joe Johnston

It has been confirmed that Disney is rebooting ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’ with director Joe Johnston and actor Josh Gad in talks. This was first reported back in May, but now it looks as though things are official. Gad originated this film which is described as a “legecyequel.” He will play Nick Szalinksi, the son of Rick Moranis’ character, Wayne Szalinski, in the original trilogy. Nick appeared in those films as well, portrayed by Robert Oliveri. The original ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’ was the first film Johnston ever directed, so he will be going back to his roots with this reboot. Since then, he directed ‘The Rocketeer’, ‘Jumanji’ (the original), ‘October Sky’, and ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ among others. Most recently, for Disney, Johnston handled the extensive reshoots on last year’s ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms‘, which had previously been helmed by Lasse Hallström. Johnston’s contributions were so heavy that he was given a director credit. This will be a theatrical film, not a project for Disney+. This could also kick off a new franchise.
