Snoopy is headed to space… or has he already been there? We’ll find out in a new short documentary, ‘Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 10’, arriving in May on Apple TV, from Morgan Neville, Imagine Documentaries, and DHX Media and its subsidiary Peanuts Worldwide. The doc will answer the question:
“Was Snoopy a world famous, top-secret astronaut?”
This project is independent of Apple’s upcoming Apple TV+ streaming service, which doesn’t launch until the fall. It appears that ‘Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 10’ will be offered free to all users of the Apple TV app.

Imagine’s Ron Howard appears as himself, while Jeff Goldblum appears as a “self-published NASA historian.” The special is said to “lightly spoof” the May 1969 NASA Apollo 10 scouting mission, whose purpose was “to skim the moon’s surface within 50,000 feet and ‘snoop around'” in anticipation of the upcoming Apollo 11 moon-landing. Apparently, NASA and the crew, including astronauts Gene Cernan, John Young, and Thomas Stafford nicknamed the lunar module “Snoopy” and the command module “Charlie Brown.”
‘Peanuts In Space’ was written by Aaron Bergeron and “is produced by Imagine Documentaries, DHX Media and Tremolo Productions, with Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Justin Wilkes and Marc Gilbar exec producing for Imagine.”

Last year, Apple made a deal with DHX Media and Peanuts Worldwide to produce new content featuring Charles Schultz’s famous comic strip characters. This is the first to arrive. In addition to that, Peanuts also made a deal last year with NASA to “share the excitement of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) with the next generation of explorers and thinkers.” Once more, this is the first project to arrive as part of this initiative.
While ‘Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 10’ precedes the launch of Apple TV+, it possible that later projects will be offered through that service.
