It isn’t shocking that we’re getting early spoilers for ‘Shazam!‘ from toys in the slightest. What is surprising is that they’re not coming from Lego this time around! That’s right folks, another beloved toy company has revealed a plot point from an upcoming superhero film and this time Funko Pop! is to blame! I know it is hard to throw any annoyance at Pop! figures but new toys may have revealed previously unannounced characters who will appear in the film.
This is your warning to head back and avoid spoilers!
There are two figures from the upcoming toy line that reveal something which might surprise audience but won’t be a massive reveal to comic readers. While we know that Billy Batson is going to become Shazam!, it would appear that we’ll see his foster family also getting magical personas. At the very least it would seem that Eugene and Darla end up getting costumes and abilities similar to Shazam though they’ll have the colors of grey and purple instead of red.
You can check them out right here:
The two were cast last year, and fans of the New 52 version of Shazam know that he shares his powers with all of his foster brothers and sisters bringing an entire Shazam Family to the table. This is the first time we’ve seen any word that this will happen in the movie itself and I suspect that it won’t occur until the final act or potentially even in an after the credits scene.
Are you at all surprised that a toy company is once again responsible for a movie spoiler? Does this being Funko Pop! instead of Lego seem at all out of place to you? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still, a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
‘Shazam!’ will be flying into your local theater on April 5th, 2019!
