Hugh Jackman has found an interesting way to talk about his decision of quitting playing the iconic hero of Wolverine which many feel was the soul of the “X-Men’ films and the one actor who truly tied them all together.
With Disney about to finalize the buyout of Fox, it is likely that most of the X-Men outside of those who hang around with ‘Deadpool’ is going to find their way into being rebooted and that possibly means Wolverine will as well. However, as the actor who played the character for 17 years, you know the role will always have a special place in his heart.
While we’re all still hoping for a real Deadpool and Wolverine crossover, the actor knew when it was time to call it quits:
“When I saw Deadpool, I was like, wow that’s cool. It’s just a matter of time. It’s a bit like you’re at the greatest party you’ve ever been at, you’ve been dancing for an hour and a half, and then you’re just like ‘It’s time, ok. If I stay any longer, it’s gonna get ugly.’ It’s like, it’s time.”
Ryan Reynolds might still be trying to talk Jackman into reprising his role one last time for another ‘Deadpool’ outing but it seems like the success of his franchise may have factored into why the actor retired from it in the first place.
Do you agree with Hugh Jackman that the last song had already played for the actor when he finished filming ‘Logan’ or could another story have been told? Would you be thrilled to see him return one last time to square off against Wade Wilson? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
