Winter is coming in April and it’s not just because of the Polar Vortex. HBO’s acclaimed fantasy show ‘Game of Thrones’ returns this spring with the fourth season based on the works of George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice And Fire’ series. Shortly after the first official trailer was unleashed on the world, now the fans get to pull back the bloodstained curtain and see the world of Westeros from the other side of the camera.
HBO has just released a new behind the scenes video where the cast and crew preview the upcoming season. Not only that, but there’s a ton of quick glimpses at some new characters like Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell and Hafthor Julius Bjornsson as Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane and some key moments like the Purple Wedding and a wildling attack. Check out all that and more in the video featuring stars Iain Glenn, Charles Dance, Peter Dinklage, and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and more below:
Just as production designer Deborah Riley says in the video, ‘Game of Thrones’ is quite the undertaking. With nearly 600 pages of scripts, six different directors, nineteen weeks of shooting, and ten episodes, there’s a whole lot going on. So, based on what you saw in the behind the scenes featurette, what are you most excited to see in the new season? Which characters’ stories are you looking forward to catching up on? And do you have any predictions for who might be getting the axe (or sword or mace or some other gruesome death)? Sound off in the comment section.
‘Game of Thrones’ returns to HBO on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 9:00pm.
