Casting directors play a very important part of the filmmaking process. Without them, we wouldn’t have the right actors and actresses taking on the roles that we’ve all come to know and love. However, sometimes casting does itself and the talent just has to say yes. For instance, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool are all no brainers. But now we have another one to add to this list thanks to Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of ‘Beauty and the Beast.’.

Since Emma Watson was cast as Belle in Bill Condon’s take on the classic 1991 animated Disney classic based on the French fairytale, the former ‘Harry Potter’ star has been joined by Luke Evans as the villainous Gaston and ‘Downton Abbey’ breakout star Dan Stevens as the Beast/the Prince. Now The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Josh Gad is in final negotiations to play Lefou, Gaston’s buffoonish sidekick known for singing arguably the best villain song in all of Disney history. The actor celebrated this news by tweeting the following image:

Gad is no stranger to the wonderful world of Disney. The actor took his singing talents from his run on the hilarious Broadway production ‘The Book of Mormon’ and starred in the 2013 smash hit ‘Frozen’ as the lovable snowman Olaf. He reprises the role in ‘Frozen Fever’, the short that plays in front of ‘Cinderella’, and he’ll revisit the character once again in the recently announced sequel. But before then, he’ll play the loyal companion to Evans’ Gaston and with any luck we’ll get to hear Gad belt out his own rendition of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s memorable tune.

What do you think about Josh Gad joining ‘Beauty and the Beast’? Could they have cast anyone more perfect for the role of Lefou? And now that the majority of the human roles have been cast, who do you think will play Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and the rest of the servants in the Beast’s castle?
