Fox/Disney’s ‘Fear Street’ has lined up two more stars, Emily Rudd, and McCabe Slye. This is an unusual trilogy of films that are planned to be released in theaters one month apart next summer. The films are based on the book series by R.L. Stine, which were originally written for a slightly older audience than his usual ‘Goosebumps’ novels.
In 1994, a group of teenagers find out that the terrifying events that have occurred in their town of Shadyside, Ohio may be connected to each other, and that they may be the next targets.
The other movies will be set in 1978 and 1666, but will wrap up back in 1994. The 1978 movie sounds like a summer camp slasher movie, which fits the time period, while the 1666 story, reportedly involves witches. All three will be tied together in one over-arching story.

Gillian Jacobs will appear in more than one movie, perhaps all three. In the 1994 setting, Jacobs will play “the survivor of a massacre that took place at a summer camp in 1978.”
‘Stranger Things’ star Sadie Sink will appear in the second picture. The cast also includes Kiana Madeira, Olivia Welch, Benjamin Flores Jr., Ashley Zukerman, Fred Hechinger, Julia Rehwald, and Jeremy Ford. Reportedly, Madeira and Welch will play two teenagers in love, but who originate from different time periods, with Madeira existing in the mid-1990s, while Welch’s character is from the 1600s. They are said to be “trying to navigate their rocky relationship when they’re targeted by the crazy horrors of their small town, Shadyside.”
Rudd and Slye will appear in the second movie, and Slye will also appear in the third, but in a different role (maybe). Rudd will portray the older sister of Sink’s character. In the 1978-set movie, he will portray “Bobby Slater, described as a Springsteen-ish burnout who works at a summer camp.” In the 1666 film, “he plays Mad Thomas, a creepy local drunk who stokes the town’s hysteria.”

Rudd appeared on an episode of ‘The Romanoffs’ and starred in a pilot for a comedy called ‘Olive Forever’ which the USA Network passed on. It is reportedly being shopped around to another venue. She has also appeared in numerous music videos, for artists including Brandon Flowers and DJ Snake featuring Justin Bieber.
Slye had a small role in the one-season musical series ‘Rise’, appeared in the films ‘Destroyer’ and ‘The Miseducation of Cameron Post’.
‘Fear Street’ was developed by Fox prior to being bought out by Disney, but reportedly, due to the low budget, Disney still plans to release it, but it’s unclear if the experimental a-movie-a-month strategy will remain in place.
At any rate, the films are now shooting in the Atlanta area. Leigh Janiak is directing. The first film was expected to be released in June 2020.
