Season 3 Of ‘The Orville’ Due To Resume Production In December

It’s no secret that the many aspects of our world have ground to a halt during this strange, pandemic-stricken year of 2020. One of the industries hit hardest during the various stages of societal shutdown is the entertainment industry, including live shows and productions both theatrical and televised. The third season of ‘The Orville,’ Seth McFarlane’s sci-fi comedy/action series that is seeing a move from Fox to Hulu in its upcoming season, had already begun filming in October 2019 when production was shut down earlier this year. Now, according to a source, things are set to resume next month in an attempt to finish the season’s shooting schedule and keep things moving along for the series. In a recent interview, ‘The Orville’ executive producer Brannon Braga talked about the series and the delays in production: This is a work of deep passion for Seth, and it’s a really great season. I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone on the show that isn’t eager to get back to work, as long as it is safe. FX’s ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ has developed a healthy cult following, especially since arriving on the FX on Hulu platform. It scored multiple Emmy nominations including in the Outstanding Comedy Series category, and a remarkable THREE nominations in the writing category for the episodes “Collaboration,” “Ghosts,” and “On the Run.” As part of the lead-up to the Emmys, showrunner Paul Simms discussed writing Season 2 and when Season 3 might begin filming. Simms told The Hollywood Reporter: “I think the main drive to the second season [began] at the end of the first season. We painted ourselves into a corner with the revelation that Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) was a vampire slayer. When we did that, we were like, “Yeah, we’ll figure out the rest later.” A lot of season two was making sure we followed through with that story. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ Milojo Productions has won the rights to produce a TV series based on Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s bestselling fantasy-horror novel ‘Mexican Gothic’, which will go to Hulu, where Milojo has a production deal. Courtesy of Deadline: Published by Del Rey in June, Mexican Gothic follows Noemí Taboada, a young socialite who travels to the Mexican countryside and the mountains of Hidalgo in hopes of rescuing her cousin, who has recently married into a reclusive mining family, after receiving a frantic letter in the mail. Noemí seeks to unveil the family’s violent and menacing secrets, but her confidence is quickly threatened and there may be no escaping the walls of her strange, new home. Ripa sang the praises of the novel to her Twitter followers: “Sublime horror for your summer reading. New York Comic Con Goes Virtual This Year

Not surprisingly, New York Comic Con’s producer ReedPop has announced that it is going virtual for this year’s event. Panels will stream on Youtube on October 8-11. In a statement, ReedPop president Lance Fensterman said” “We are thoroughly disappointed that we can’t gather together, in-person for the New York Comic Con we love to build and our fans love to revel in. We look forward to this weekend all year long, just like you, and with this being our 15th edition, we were particularly excited. I will miss walking up and down artist alley and seeing friends that I’ve made since we were in the basement at the Javits Center. Sarah Paulson Set To Direct ‘American Horror Stories’

Fans of ‘American Horror Story’ were delighted to learn that Ryan Murphy was delivering a spin-off of sorts with another anthology series ‘American Horror Stories’. True, ‘American Horror Story’ is an anthology, with a new story with new characters every season, but ‘AHStories’ will be even more finely focused, with a different tale each episode. Very little is known about ‘AHStories’. It obviously hasn’t begun filming due to the coronavirus, but at least one ‘AHStory’ alum is attached in some capacity. Sarah Paulson recently divulged that she would be directing for the new show. “What can I say?… I’ll be directing something.” Paulson is the lead on the Murphy-created Netflix series ‘Ratched’ which debuts on September 18. Over the years, she has served as something of a muse to the hitmaker, starting with a smaller role in Season 1, “Murder House,” as the medium Billie Dean Howard, whom she reprised in S5, “Hotel.” She became a series regular in S2, “Asylum,” as investigative journalist, Lana Winters. Is Taika Waititi so OVER the Emmys? He seems to be, as he posted a couple of tongue-in-cheek tweets after it was announced that he had been nominated for Character Voice-Over Performance for his role on Disney+’s ‘The Mandalorian’. That was just one of 15 nominations that the series received, including Outstanding Drama Series which shocked many, as ‘The Mandalorian’ is a half-hour show and is aimed at more of a family audience. Due in part to its partnership with Hulu, FX has seen its vampire comedy sleeper hit ‘What We Do In The Shadows’ explode into a bonified cult smash. And in this breakout hit, the breakout character is hands down scene-stealer Colin Robinson, played by Mark Proksch. Unlike his ancient European flatmates, Colin Robinson (who is always referred to by his full name) is thoroughly American and modern. He also isn’t a vampire of the blood-sucking variety; rather he drains people of their energy by boring them to (not quite) death. Are you ready for your first look at ‘Helstrom’? Hulu has delivered it courtesy of SDCC@Home. This is the last Marvel-based live-action series before Marvel Studios begins delivering its original Marvel shows through Disney+, which will actually connect to the ultra-popular Marvel Cinematic Universe. To make sure no one makes a mistake that this has anything to do with the films, ‘Helstrom’ isn’t branded as a Marvel project. It is simply labeled as a “Hulu Original.” Tom Austen and Sydney Lemmon star as siblings Daimon and Ana Helstrom, the children of a notorious serial killer and a mother, Victoria (played by Elizabeth Marvel) who is locked away in an asylum. Daimon and Ana spend their time investigating paranormal activities, but it seems that perhaps the darkest evil is closer to them than they realize. Things have been very quiet when it comes to Hulu’s ‘Helstrom’ based on the Marvel Comics characters Daimon and Satana “Ana” Helstrom. But now the streaming service has released the first photos from the series, with episode descriptions. Paul Zbyszewski (‘Lost’) acts as showrunner and executive producer. Tom Austen and Sydney Lemmon star as Daimon and Ana, who, in this version of the story, are the children of an infamous serial killer. Now they dedicate their lives to battling demons and other forces of evil. Check them and the rest of the cast out below in these new photos complete with episode synopses: Although ‘Helstrom’ is based on characters from Marvel Comics, it does not appear that it will be branded with the Marvel logo, most likely because it isn’t part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, its Emmy-winning star, Elisabeth Moss, is offering more hints as to what viewers can expect when this series, based on the landmark novel by Margaret Atwood, returns. The fourth season of Hulu’s ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ won’t be released until next year, but the streaming service has released a new teaser which gives fans a glimpse of what to expect. Obviously, a major conflict is brewing, as June Osbourne (Elisabeth Moss) narrates: “Change never comes easy. Blessed be the squad.” She then follows that up by declaring, “We’re just getting started.” The new teaser, which mixes old and new footage, offers at least a taste of what’s to come following Season 3’s harrowing finale. (SPOILERS: It looks like June lived.) After she helped a planeload of Gilead’s children escape to Canada, it looks as though she is rescued by her fellow Handmaids, before she has to go on the run. ‘American Horror Stories’ And ‘Y: The Last Man’ Move Exclusively To FX On Hulu

Two seemingly high-profile new series will not be airing of FX as was previously planned. Instead, they will only be available via FX on Hulu a new hub that was just unveiled in March. FX on Hulu is part of Disney’s growing efforts to prioritize streaming as an entertainment outlet. The two new shows in question are the Ryan Murphy-created spinoff anthology ‘American Horror Stories’, and the beleaguered ‘Y: The Last Man’, an adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan’s bestselling graphic novel series. Murphy first teased ‘American Horror Stories’ in May, and FX officially ordered it to series in early June. Each episode will be a stand-alone story, akin to ‘The Twilight Zone’. Murphy’s ‘American Horror Story’, which is going into its 10th season, remains FX’s most-watched program. ‘Manifest’ has a greater destiny at NBC. The network has renewed the sci-fi drama for a third season. The series was created by Jeff Rake and made its debut in 2018, becoming NBC’s top-rated new drama. Its sophomore season debuted earlier this year, during mid-season. While its regular ratings have become somewhat mediocre, its viewership increases exponentially when streaming is factored in, with it delivering roughly 7.7 million audience members. ‘Manifest’ follows the passengers aboard Montego Air Flight 828 who were on their way from Jamaica to New York City when the plane encountered turbulence. Nevertheless, the plane landed just fine, except for the fact that when it landed, five years had mysteriously passed! The passengers realize that a mysterious link is established between them and that their lives are ticking away. They are all set to die after the same amount of time that they went missing. The Rights To ‘Daredevil’ Will Revert To Disney In Six Months

Even though Netflix canceled its Marvel Comics-based shows a while back, diehard fans have never given up hope that somehow these programs and their characters would be revived somehow, preferably with the original creative teams and casts in place. But due to contract stipulations, the rights to Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and The Punisher, as well as all related characters and concepts, would remain in the hands of Netflix for 18 months to two years.
