The First Teaser Trailer For Robert Kirkman’s ‘Invincible’ Has Arrived

Robert Kirkman is known to many pop-culture fans as the man who created ‘The Walking Dead’ (technically co-created with artist and longtime collaborator Tony Moore), the Image Comics comic-book series that spawned a hugely successful TV show that is still running into its eleventh season on AMC – and which, in turn, has spawned several other series spin-offs as well. Before ‘The Walking Dead,’ however, Kirkman and artist Cory Walker co-created another title for Image: the son-of-a-famous-superhero-gets-powers-of-his-own tale ‘Invincible,’ and it was a massive hit. Praised as a more realistic take on a superhero story, the series ran for 144 issues from 2003 to 2018. Once set to be adapted into a feature film, ‘Invincible’ finds life as an adult-oriented animated series on Amazon’s Prime Video, coming to audiences next year in what’s reported to be an hour-long each, 8-episode first season. The voice cast for the new series is impressively long, and reads as a “who’s who” of genre stalwarts mixed with several mainstays of ‘The Walking Dead’ TV series. UPDATED: It was announced that ‘The Walking Dead’ S10 will get six bonus episodes that showrunner Angela Kang “hopes” will air in early 2021. Fans of ‘The Walking Dead’ were left hanging, as the Season 10 finale, entitled “The Tower,” was not completed before COVID-19 shutdowns forced all work to cease. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. During the ‘TWD’ SDCC@Home panel, it was announced that the finale will air on October 4, one week before the Season 6 debut of ‘Fear the Walking Dead’. And on top of that, a new clip from that last episode was released, which you can check out below. SDCC: ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Unveils A New Trailer And Release Date For Season 6

‘Fear the Walking Dead’ fans received a treat from that series’ SDCC@Home panel, as stars Lennie James, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Karen David, Jenna Elfman, and Rubén Blades beamed in to discuss the series and to unveil a new trailer and release date for the show’s sixth season. ‘The Walking Dead’ chief Scott M. Gimple was also present, although he remained mum on details about the future. The panel was moderated by ‘Talking Dead’ host Chris Hardwick. For starters, Season 6 will premier on October 11. But the entire season hasn’t been shot, as production shut down due to COVID-19. Only about half of the new episodes are ready to roll out. The entire season has been scripted, however, and the cast expressed that they were eager to get back in front of the cameras. But, fans should probably not get their hopes up on getting the entire season in a timely manner. Amazon Officially Orders ‘Paper Girls’ To Series Based On Brian K. Vaughan & Cliff Chiang’s Image Comic

Amazon Prime Video has officially greenlit ‘Paper Girls’, a sci-fi adventure series based on the Image Comic book by written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Cliff Chiang. The TV adaptation will be produced by Amazon Studios and Legendary Television, in association with Brad Pitt’s Plan B shingle. Stephany Folsom will write and executive produce. Among her credits are ‘Toy Story 4’, ‘Star Wars: Resistance’, and another upcoming Amazon series, ‘Lord of the Rings’. Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers will serve as co-showrunners, as well as EPs. Cantwell and Rogers previously created AMC’s ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ and served as producers of ‘Lodge 49’. Vaughan and Chiang also serve as EPs. In a joint statement, Folsom, Cantwell, and Rogers said (via Variety): “As huge fans of what Brian and Cliff created in ‘Paper Girls,’ we couldn’t be more excited by the opportunity to bring this incredible adventure to life. Netflix has scored a major hit with its new sci-fi action flick ‘The Old Guard’. Though Netflix usually keeps its viewership numbers hush-hush, it was more than happy to boast that 72 million households tuned in to watch this movie during its first week, and that it had cracked its list of top ten original movies. Gina Prince-Bythewood directed while Charlize Theron headed up the cast as the immortal warrior Andy, the leader of an unkillable unit of mercenaries that includes KiKi Layne as new recruit Nile Freeman, Matthias Schoenaerts as Sebastian “Booker” le Livre, Marwan Kenzari as Yusuf “Joe” Al-Kaysani, and Luca Marinelli as Nicolo “Nicky” di Genova. The cast also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor as Copley, Harry Melling as Merrick, and Veronica Ngo as Quynh. When she heard about the huge audience that ‘The Old Guard’ wrangled, Theron reacted: “It’s pretty nutty, right? Judge Rules Against Robert Kirkman In AMC/’The Walking Dead’ Profit Suit

A judge has ruled in favor of AMC and against Robert Kirkman in a lawsuit, the creator filed over profit participation from the hit adaptation of his Image Comics series, ‘The Walking Dead’. Kirkman’s suit was for $300 million. According to the judgment of Judge Daniel Buckley: “In accordance with the foregoing, it is hereby ORDERED: Issues One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, and Seven are decided in favor of Defendants; and This case proceeds to a full trial on the merits based on the contract interpretations so decided in this trial.” You can read the full ruling here. AMC’s chief attorney Orin Snyder provided this statement to Deadline: “Today’s decision is a total victory for AMC. The judge found in AMC’s favor on all seven issues that were presented at trial and confirmed that AMC honored its contracts and paid Mr. Kirkman and the other plaintiffs what they were owed. ‘The Walking Dead’: Who’s On The Other End Of That Radio? Margot Bingham Joins S11

Who’s on the other end of the radio that’s been communicating with Eugene on ‘The Walking Dead’? Her name is Stephanie and the woman who supplies her voice, Margot Bingham, has been announced as joining the cast for Season 11. Stephanie’s voice was first heard in the S9 finale, “The Storm.” She has since been heard in the episodes “Bonds” and “Morning Star.” She establishes something of a long-distance romance with Eugene (Josh McDermitt), bonding over a shared childhood experience, a love of comets, and music. In “Morning Star,” Eugene (and fans) discover that Stephanie and her community are located relatively nearby in Charleston, West Virginia. Their budding romance is almost destroyed when Rosita hears Stephanie on the radio and demands to know who she is, scaring her off. Stephanie is a character from the comics, and so far, the TV show has followed her storyline fairly closely. Both Bingham and comic book Steph are Black. ‘Invincible’ Animated Adaptation Casts Khary Payton And Zachary Quinto

A cartoon adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s superhero comic ‘Invincible‘ has been quietly in the works for a couple of years for Amazon Prime Video. Kirkman took to Twitter to announce two members of the voice cast– Khary Payton and Zachary Quinto. Sweet news today! But I have to point out, not even close to the full cast! It was announced last July that Amazon Prime Video was set to deliver a live-action series adaptation of Bryan K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s Image Comics series ‘Paper Girls’. There have been no further updates, until now. Co-showrunner Christopher Cantwell tweeted a photo of his binder of “Daily Room Notes.” So it’s… coming along. ‘The Walking Dead’ Video Preview Teases Maggie’s Return

‘The Walking Dead’ wrapped up its 10th season prematurely with this weekend’s episode, “The Tower.” There is still one last episode, the official season finale, entitled “A Certain Doom,” but due to forced shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, post-production couldn’t be completed in time to get it on the air this coming weekend. Showrunner Angela Kang confessed that post on a big episode like this would normally take two weeks, and they were only half a week into the process when everything came to a halt. So fans must deal with the fact that there is a massive season finale hovering out there in limbo just waiting for the final touches before it can air. And while that episode will surely be packed with surprises, one cat that AMC and the series’ creators have willingly let out of the bag is that it features the return of Lauren Cohan as Maggie Greene Rhee. ‘The Walking Dead’: Angela Kang Reveals How Far Into Post-Production The S10 Finale Was Before Being Interrupted By COVID-19

‘The Walking Dead’ is a show that is known for its unfortunate twists, but the latest doesn’t come from the cruel writers, but the real world. This past episode, “The Tower,” the 15th of its 10th season, was not intended to be the season finale, but for the time being, it will unexpectedly serve as such, until the final 16th episode, entitled “A Certain Doom,” can be completed, and there is currently no clue of when that will be. The last episode has been filmed and post-production had begun on it, but the COVID-19 pandemic shut that down. For the show’s creators– and no doubt the fans– that was especially hard to deal with, as they were so close to wrapping up the season, only for the last piece of the puzzle to suddenly be ripped from their hands. Lee Daniels Set To Direct ‘Stealth’ A Very Different Superhero Movie, Based On Upcoming Image Series

Lee Daniels has signed on to direct a superhero movie, courtesy of Universal Pictures and Robert Kirkman‘s Skybound Entertainment. The film will be based on a title called ‘Stealth’ that hasn’t even been published yet! ‘Stealth’ #1 will be released on March 11, 2020 by Skybound/Image Comics, with a story by Mike Costa, art by Nate Bellegarde and Tamra Bonvillain, and cover by Jason Howard. It appears that the original concept for ‘Stealth’ originated with Kirkman, creator of ‘The Walking Dead’, and Marc Silvestri, one of the founders of Image Comics, and creator of ‘Cyber Force’ among others, but Costa turned their idea into a story. For decades, Stealth has waged war on crime in Detroit, but now he’s taken his pursuit of justice too far. Only reporter Tony Barber knows that behind Stealth’s reckless behavior is an older man battling Alzheimer’s—his father. A father unwilling to accept that he’s no longer the hero this city needs… with enemies all too eager to force his retirement. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are penning the screenplay.
