Before ‘The Walking Dead,’ however, Kirkman and artist Cory Walker co-created another title for Image: the son-of-a-famous-superhero-gets-powers-of-his-own tale ‘Invincible,’ and it was a massive hit.  Praised as a more realistic take on a superhero story, the series ran for 144 issues from 2003 to 2018.  Once set to be adapted into a feature film, ‘Invincible’ finds life as an adult-oriented animated series on Amazon’s Prime Video, coming to audiences next year in what’s reported to be an hour-long each, 8-episode first season. The voice cast for the new series is impressively long, and reads as a “who’s who” of genre stalwarts mixed with several mainstays of ‘The Walking Dead’ TV series.  Ranging from recurring roles to one-off appearances, the announced cast includes Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson/Invincible, J. K. Simmons as Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man, Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson, Mark Hamill […]

Fans of ‘The Walking Dead’ were left hanging, as the Season 10 finale, entitled “The Tower,” was not completed before COVID-19 shutdowns forced all work to cease.  But there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  During the ‘TWD’ SDCC@Home panel, it was announced that the finale will air on October 4, one week before the Season 6 debut of ‘Fear the Walking Dead’.  And on top of that, a new clip from that last episode was released, which you can check out below.  (NOTE: Some of this footage has already been released, but not all.): As you can see, Maggie is back, which should make longtime viewers happy.  Beta’s threat is amplified.  It looks like things are building to a major climax!  However, if you’ve watched ‘The Walking Dead’, like, at all, you know the writers/producers love an excruciating cliffhanger.  And with the real world looking and more and more like ‘The Walking Dead’ world, who knows when S11 will be able to be filmed?  In fact, it was stated that Season 11 […]

Gimple was also present, although he remained mum on details about the future.  The panel was moderated by ‘Talking Dead’ host Chris Hardwick. For starters, Season 6 will premier on October 11.  But the entire season hasn’t been shot, as production shut down due to COVID-19.  Only about half of the new episodes are ready to roll out.  The entire season has been scripted, however, and the cast expressed that they were eager to get back in front of the cameras.  But, fans should probably not get their hopes up on getting the entire season in a timely manner. Either way, check out the new trailer below: Stay tuned for more ‘The Walking Dead’ news as SDCC@Home continues. Once again, ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ Season 6 will arrive on AMC on October 11, 2020.

Gina Prince-Bythewood directed while Charlize Theron headed up the cast as the immortal warrior Andy, the leader of an unkillable unit of mercenaries that includes KiKi Layne as new recruit Nile Freeman, Matthias Schoenaerts as Sebastian “Booker” le Livre, Marwan Kenzari as Yusuf “Joe” Al-Kaysani, and Luca Marinelli as Nicolo “Nicky” di Genova.  The cast also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor as Copley, Harry Melling as Merrick, and Veronica Ngo as Quynh. When she heard about the huge audience that ‘The Old Guard’ wrangled, Theron reacted: “It’s pretty nutty, right?  It’s pretty crazy.” ‘The Old Guard’ is based on the Image Comics series written by Greg Rucka with art by Leandro Fernandez, so there is more material that could be covered in potential sequels.  (Rucka penned the screenplay himself.)  And while Theron is all for making another one, she isn’t rushing to film it anytime soon. According to the judgment of Judge Daniel Buckley: “In accordance with the foregoing, it is hereby ORDERED: Issues One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, and Seven are decided in favor of Defendants; and This case proceeds to a full trial on the merits based on the contract interpretations so decided in this trial.” You can read the full ruling here. AMC’s chief attorney Orin Snyder provided this statement to Deadline: “Today’s decision is a total victory for AMC.  The judge found in AMC’s favor on all seven issues that were presented at trial and confirmed that AMC honored its contracts and paid Mr. Kirkman and the other plaintiffs what they were owed.  As the court found, these plaintiffs had the most sophisticated lawyers and agents in Hollywood and they got what they bargained for. “We are now turning our attention to the trial in New York — which involves very similar claims by CAA and Frank Darabont — secure in the […]

Stephanie is a character from the comics, and so far, the TV show has followed her storyline fairly closely.  Both Bingham and comic book Steph are Black.  That’s about the only physical resemblance at this point. There is one final episode of ‘The Walking Dead’ S10, but production had to be halted due to coronavirus shutdowns.  With Atlanta starting to open up, AMC and the show’s creators and cast are hoping […]

Sweet news today! But I have to point out, not even close to the full cast! More to come!! https://t.co/4iBvvDEx40 — Robert Kirkman (@RobertKirkman) July 18, 2020 Payton will voice the superhero Black Samson, a member of the Guardians of the Globe, while Quinto will voice Robot, a character that starts out as the leader of the Teen Team, a Titans-like group that main character Mark Grayson/Invincible hangs out with. Payton and Quinto join the already cast Steven Yeun as Mark, Zazie Beetz as his girlfriend Amber Bennett, Andrew Rannells as Mark’s best friend William Clockwell, Walton Goggins as government liaison Cecil Stedman, Mark Hamill as super tailor Art Rosenbaum, Gillian Jacobs as Atom Eve, Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Splode, and Seth Rogan as Allen the Alien.  The biggest unannounced casting is that of Mark’s father, Nolan, a.k.a. Omni-Man. ‘Invincible’ is a deconstructionist take on a DC/Marvel-inspired comic universe.  Lead character, Mark Grayson, finds out his father is the Superman-like […]

Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s Image Comics series ‘Paper Girls’.  There have been no further updates, until now.  Co-showrunner Christopher Cantwell tweeted a photo of his binder of “Daily Room Notes.”  So it’s… coming along. I’m always misplacing my glasses in the writers room, so I finally got a string to wear them around my neck. Very “old man” I know, but I can get away with it as a co-showrunner (of a new TV series with Rogers and brilliant writer Steph Folsom, based on a stellar BKV comic). pic.twitter.com/nXTPRwfnul — Christopher Cantwell (@ifyoucantwell) June 30, 2020 Cantwell previously created the AMC series ‘Halt and Catch Fire’.  Stephany Folsom is co-writing along with Vaughan.  Folsom scripted two episodes of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series, also coming from Prime Video.  She also contributed to the script for ‘Toy Story 4’. A few hours after 1988 Halloween night, four 12-year old girls have to face a mission. Trapped in a complicated conflict, they will travel in time to save the world. ‘Paper Girls’ is baaaaasically ‘Stranger Things’ but with four girls instead of […]

So fans must deal with the fact that there is a massive season finale hovering out there in limbo just waiting for the final touches before it can air.  And while that episode will surely be packed with surprises, one cat that AMC and the series’ creators have willingly let out of the bag is that it features the return of Lauren Cohan as Maggie Greene Rhee. Maggie’s return conveniently comes just as the show has said goodbye to its other female lead, Michonne Hawthorne played by Danai Gurira.  Though we don’t know the circumstances under which Maggie returns, this video preview (released by co-production studio Skybound) confirms that she will appear in […]

The last episode has been filmed and post-production had begun on it, but the COVID-19 pandemic shut that down.  For the show’s creators– and no doubt the fans– that was especially hard to deal with, as they were so close to wrapping up the season, only for the last piece of the puzzle to suddenly be ripped from their hands. Showrunner Angela Kang spoke to Deadline, and said” “For big episodes like that, to deliver them, it’s basically about two weeks before air. It takes that long to get all of the post-production effects done and all the final finishing. So, we were about a week and a half out by the time the California governor called a shutdown to stuff […]

For decades, Stealth has waged war on crime in Detroit, but now he’s taken his pursuit of justice too far. Only reporter Tony Barber knows that behind Stealth’s reckless behavior is an older man battling Alzheimer’s—his father. A father unwilling to accept that he’s no longer the hero this city needs… with enemies all too eager to force his retirement. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are penning the screenplay.  The duo previously worked on the scripts for ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Cowboys & Aliens’.
