Make it entertaining enough, and the flaws are forgivable, like in ‘Back to the Future.’ Get sloppy with it and you’ll end up with an ‘Avengers: Endgame’ scenario. Regardless, more films exploring the advantages and consequences of messing with the space-time continuum are more than welcome to me. What’s more welcome than temporal displacement movies, are films that appear to be full of beautiful Italian vistas. Good thing someone was thinking the same just that same thing, because we get both in the upcoming flick called ‘Time Loop’. “A father and son team of scientists unlock the secret of time travel while researching time movement.  During their first test they get trapped in a Time Loop, where their actions, in the past, have grave consequences, for the present and future.” We’ve got an exclusive clip from ‘Time Loop’ that involves a piglet and what looks similar to a Stargate. Check it out below: Time Loop aka ‘Time Perspectives’ is Ciro Sorrentino’s directorial debut and stars Sam Gittins of ‘Eastenders’ fame. Stormfront Is Trouble For Homelander And ‘The Boys’ https://sciencefiction.com/2020/03/10/stormfront-is-trouble-for-homelander-and-the-boys/ https://sciencefiction.com/2020/03/10/stormfront-is-trouble-for-homelander-and-the-boys/#disqus_thread Tue, 10 Mar 2020 14:05:34 +0000 https://sciencefiction.com/?p=352221 ‘The Boys’ is one of those things that tears apart beloved superhero tropes, and I love it. It leaves behind a messy pile of goo that would probably mirror our reality if a company could indeed create narcissistic heroes for profit. Whether it’s Homelander’s boyish charm or deadly childish tantrums, there’s something so reflective of our society there. But what would we do if there was an out-of-control group of “good guys” on the loose? Fight fire with rain? Then the forecast calls for a Stormfront. Entertainment Weekly published a couple of photos of the newest threat to ‘The Boys’ and Homelander, too. Aya Cash will play the character of Stormfront, who will most likely be a weather-based hero. Since ‘The Boys’ has taken some liberties with the original works of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, she may not be just a gender swap of the comic book original. Given that Vought is the real enemy in ‘The Boys’, we may see Homelander join up with the hero murdering renegades to take on this new threat. She has the company’s best interests in mind, and you know what that means for the rest of the population. Aya Cash didn’t mince words […]

The groundbreaking science fiction epic has been getting brief spurts of life throughout the past four decades. None of those entries helped materialize a sustainable film or TV series. In 2010, we had the atheistically amazing ‘TRON: Legacy,’ which laid the groundwork for future installments. Fast forward then years, and we’ve had a couple of games and the short-living ‘TRON: Uprising.’ With limitless potential, why is it so hard for Disney to galvanize the franchise? Well, Disney was indeed trying to restart things on the down-low, according to ComicBook.com. ‘American Crime’ scribe John Ridley was working on something ‘TRON’ related for the streaming service Disney+ until recently. It turns out that the project was not in a state to be officially announced. It is being reported that Ridley was actively developing it to an unknown level of completion, but it is now no more. Since Bob Iger announced his shifting role within the company, the project may have just been one of those things swept aside while the former CEO looks at the bigger picture.   RELATED:  Game Over For ‘Tron 3’ At Disney   The love for ‘TRON’ is still […]

The part horror film and part superhero movie has been on the shelves for a couple of years. Now it is set for release and has an honor rarely seen by modern superhero flicks. Entertainment Weekly discussed the X-Men spin-off with director Josh Boone. ‘The New Mutants’ is pulling off something that we haven’t seen very often. Despite what has been rumored in the press, this film is reshoot-free! However, it was a series of fortunate events that led to this unicorn. The production wrapped just as Disney was beginning the takeover of 20th Century Fox, which stuck the mutant story in a bit of a limbo.   RELATED:  Get To Know The ‘New Mutants’ In 15 New Still Photos   Boone illuminated on the situation: “Everybody said we did reshoots! We’ve never done reshoots. And I’ll tell you this: if there hadn’t been a merger, I’m sure we would’ve done reshoots the same way every movie does pickups. We didn’t even do that because by the time the merger was done and everything was settled, everybody’s older.” OK, […]

Collider‘s Perri Nemiroff sat down with Jason Blum and Ike Barinholtz to talk about the production company’s latest film ‘The Hunt.’ During the interview, the idea was floated that the previously mentioned movie may make an appearance at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights event. What about the idea of adapting the annual fright fest into a film? Oh, Jason Blum alluded that it may be a reality: “Yes! Definitely! We’ve actually talked about it. We haven’t quite figured it out, but there’s definitely a movie in Halloween Horror Nights somewhere.” Halloween Horror Nights take place in Universal Orlando and Hollywood starting each September and running through October. During the month and a half many of the theme parks’ warehouses, studios, and ride queues get a complete makeover with each being turned into a haunted house based on a popular IP like ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ or the Netflix hit ‘Stranger Things.’ That’s not all. HHN also has themed scare zones to get a few random screams out of your friends between houses. There are also shows, […]

However, they usually have such a mass appeal that a profit is easily pulled in. It’s a great strategy that Jason Blum, the company’s CEO, has come up with. If you look at the man’s slate of upcoming films, there’s no doubt that he’s a horror film juggernaut. With ‘The Craft‘ and another ‘Halloween’ sequel on the way, could we see another classic get new life? Following the box office success of ‘The Invisible Man,’ it would be a missed opportunity not to try to collect the whole set of cinema’s golden age boogeymen. With that being said, Blum may be looking at resurrecting another classic Universal monster. That creature is the creation of doctor Victor Von Frankenstein. While appearing on the Evolution of Horror Podcast, the producer extraordinaire laid out his plans for the reanimated corpse: “I’d love to do Frankenstein. I’ve tasked our filmmakers with trying to figure out just straight Frankenstein. Again, I don’t know if someone else is doing it, I don’t know anything about it, but I would love to try and I’m waiting for the great idea. The Invisible Man, I agree, the best ideas […]

Try fleeting. Yes, it’s the temporary tattoo of social media engagement. All the fun, none of the remorse. Well, that’s what Twitter is hoping at least according to Deadline. Fleets are tweets with limited engagement options and an even more limited lifespan, 24 hours. Brazil is ground zero for testing the new feature. The country boasts the 5th largest number of Twitter users in the world. Why exactly Brazil was chosen over the UK, the US or Japan is unclear. Regardless, if this experiment turns out to be well-liked, we could see it appear in other countries. Mo Al Adham is the product manager from Twitter’s Brazilian branch. In the company’s blog he put forth this rationale for needing fleets: “Some people say they feel insecure to Tweet because Tweets are public, permanent and exhibit public engagement counts (likes and Retweets). [Fleets] are a way to have conversations initiated with your fleeting thoughts. We hope that those people who are not usually comfortable with Tweeting use Fleets to talk about the reflections that come to their head.” Fleets would allow […]

One of those elements revolves around the Emporer’s survival after the second Death Star was vaporized. Now, after the divisive film has been released, Disney is going back and gradually feeding those missing details. The info is coming via various supplemental materials. Some will appear in an upcoming comic book; the others are found in the novelization we mentioned above. It’s one thing to learn that your family tree spawns from the galaxy’s greatest villain. It’s another to learn that your daddy was a failed clone of that same villain. That’s what we’re learning this week from the novelization of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ courtesy of Screen Rant. According to the “expanded” version of the story written by Rae Carson, Shiv Palpatine was a busy bee creating clones that probably resembled that one scene from ‘Alien: Resurrection.’ Some maybe had two heads or webbed feet. A few undoubtedly looked like Rip Taylor. One such cloned turned out to be an average Joe with no […]

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story that JJ Abrams’s company is getting ready to move on its first film since penning a deal with Warner Bros. last year. ‘The Pinkerton’ is shrouded in mystery. The basic idea is that it is a supernatural revenge thriller. The film has no set release schedule. About all we can do right now is speculate. What could be the setting, themes, and how does the Pinkerton agency fits into all this? What we can do is give you a bit of a history lesson on the film’s namesake.   RELATED: J.J. Abrams And Bad Robot Are Set To Conjure TV Shows And Movies Based On ‘Justice League Dark’   The Pinkertons don’t get a whole lot of love on film. Those familiar with ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ or ‘Bioshock: Infinite’ will no doubt find the name familiar. Pinkerton is a private company that provided both security and detective services starting in 1850. The business had dealings with bringing in outlaws and protecting important figures. She’s fun and charismatic. That is something noticeably lacking from the previous entries into Detective Comics’ shared universe of movies. Combining her version of Wonder Woman with the time period of 1984 makes the upcoming sequel even more of a must-see. Oh, and that whole swinging from the lightning scene may also have something to do with it. GamesRadar brought us news today that a new image has been released for ‘Wonder Woman 1984’. The photo shows Princess Diana in her iconic armor effortlessly handling a couple of thugs. What did these guys do to deserve having their wrists brutalized? I bet you any money that they were going to buy all the ‘Gremlins’ merchandise and sell it at inflated prices to desperate parents! Or they’re just thugs doing bad things in the mid-1980s. Do you know how we can tell this still is from 1984 and set in a mall? Pastels. Nothing was more common than neon lighting and pastel colors in the age of excess. Everyone seemed obsessed with buying the blandest wallpaper as long as it was beige and light pink. Oh, the horrible wallpaper. And the Swatch […]

We had better get used to it affecting our everyday lives. Yes, even Disney is going to suffer. Even the thought of the man-made possibly being within the vicinity of a major event is grounds for cancellation. The virus won’t be scaring guests away from parks yet, but it is sending journalists and celebrities home early.   RELATED: San Diego Comic-Con Braces For The Impact Of The Coronavirus   Deadline is reporting that a planned massive press event for Disney+ European launch has been scrapped. The presser was going to feature presentations from an unspecified list of guests. The attendees supposedly included Disney executives and “creative heads.” It would be fair to assume that this meant the team behind ‘The Mandalorian’ and the upcoming Marvel series like ‘WandaVision’. We’ll never know for sure now.  Trust me when I say that press events can lead to something similar to convention flu. So, I’d say this was a wise choice from the Mouse when Disney announced the following: “Due to a number of media attendee cancellations and increasing concerns at the prospect of traveling internationally at this time, we have decided to […]
