By most accounts, The CW’s ‘Crisis on Earth-X’ crossover between its hit DC Comics series ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ and ‘Supergirl’ was a dream come true.  Can that bright spot outshine a complete public relations nightmare?

Following the suspension of creator/showrunner/executive producer Andrew Kreisberg over sexual harassment accusations, The CW has officially terminated him.  Kreisberg was accused of multiple accounts of inappropriate touching and sexual remarks.  The CW conducted a “thorough investigation” and its findings, though undisclosed, were sufficient enough to sever ties with the creator.

In 2015, Kreisberg signed a multi-year deal with the network to develop new shows as well as serve as showrunner of ‘The Flash’, co-showrunner of ‘Supergirl’ and EP of ‘Arrow’ and ‘Legends’.  Greg Berlanti and Todd Helbing will take over as co-showrunners on ‘The Flash’.  Berlanti will also work closely with Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller who serve as co-showrunners of ‘Supergirl’.  It doesn’t appear any major changes will impact ‘Arrow’ or ‘Legends’.

In a statement, The CW said:

“We remain committed to providing a safe working environment for our employees and everyone involved in our productions.”

Berlanti and fellow producer Sarah Schechter issued a separate statement that said:

“Warner Bros. Television Group recently concluded its investigation into the allegations against Andrew Kreisberg. We encouraged and supported this investigation, we believe and support the individuals who came forward, and we agree with the studio’s decision. Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of all our colleagues — coworkers, crew and staff alike.”

Kreisberg has denied the allegations.  When these accusations were first made, he stated, “I have made comments on women’s appearances and clothes in my capacity as an executive producer, but they were not sexualized.  I have proudly mentored both male and female colleagues for many years. But never in what I believe to be an unwanted way and certainly never in a sexual way.”

The ‘Crisis on Earth-X’ wrapped up the first part of the season for the superhero shows.  They are on hiatus until next year, with ‘Supergirl’ returning on Monday, January 15th, ‘The Flash’ on January 16th and ‘Arrow’ on January 18th.  New series, ‘Black Lightning’ will air after ‘The Flash’.  ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ will return later, on an undisclosed date.
