Netflix has revealed a first look at ‘Locke & Key’, the upcoming supernatural drama based on Joe Hill’s IDW comic book series. Unfortunately, it isn’t a cast photo, but rather a look at the show’s main setting, Keyhouse. After the murder of her husband, Rendell Locke, his widow, Nina and their three kids, Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode move into his family’s ancestral home, a.k.a. Keyhouse. There, the kids discover a series of magical keys that unlock special abilities. Unfortunately, a demonic force is also after the keys.
As Netflix notes, this series has been in development for many years, with a number of different outlets interested in bringing it to life, but it just never happened until now. Check out these shots of Keyhouse, shared via Twitter, below:

Locke & Key is a coming-of-age mystery about love, loss, and the unshakable bonds that define family. After their father is murdered under mysterious circumstances, the three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father’s death. As the Locke children explore the different keys and their unique powers, a mysterious demon awakens — and will stop at nothing to steal them.
Carlton Cuse, Aron Eli Coleite, and Meredith Averill developed the TV adaptation of ‘Locke & Key’. It was originally set for FOX, back in 2010, but that version was scrapped, even after the pilot was shown at San Diego Comic-Com. Plans briefly shited to turning the comic into a movie trilogy. Then Hulu ordered a new pilot but did not order it to series. That’s when Netflix snapped it up, but wanted an all-new pilot with a new cast.

The only cast member from the Hulu pilot to be kept is Jackson Robert Scott, who played Bode. Scott will be joined by Darby Stanchfield as the mom, Nina Locke, Bill Heck as her ill-fated husband Rendell, Connor Jessup as the oldest sibling, Tyler, and Emilia Jones as the middle child, Kinsey.
The cast also includes Sherri Saum as Ellie Whedon, a teacher at the kids’ new school who has a past connection to Rendell and Keyhouse; Griffin Gluck as Gabe, a new friend of Kinsey’s; Laysla de Oliveira as Dodge the demon antagonist; Petrice Jones as Scot Kavanaugh, who becomes fixated on Kinsey; and Thomas Mitchell Barnet as Sam Lesser, a loner that falls under Dodge’s control.
Recurring cast members are Steven Williams as kindly teacher, Joe Ridgeway; Kevin Alves as “life of the party” Javi, who becomes Tyler’s new best friend; Asha Bromfield as “horror nerd” Zadie Wells; and Felix Mallard as Lucas Caravaggio.
There will be ten episodes in the first season, and these are the titles, although I’m not sure they are in order. I would think “Welcome to Matheson” would be the name of the first episode. But this is the current listing:
