‘Sleepy Hollow’ was a resounding hit on its Monday, September 16th premier, with 10.1 million viewers, making it Fox’s highest rated fall debut in seven years. Viewers apparently took to the quirky, supernatural series. In case genre fans were still unsure on whether they wanted to check the show out, they now have a reason to as fan-favorite John Noble will be joining the cast. Noble, of course, played the beloved Walter Bishop on all five seasons of the cult hit ‘Fringe.’ Both shows were co-created, written and produced by Alex Kutrzman and Roberto Orci.
Noble’s character is said to be a “major recurring role.” He will be playing Henry Parrish, who is described as “a kind and reclusive man who possesses supernatural powers that have the potential to help Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison).” (I can’t help wonder if there’s any significance to his two role’s last names, Walter Bishop and Henry Parrish, both church related. Coincidence or possibly an inside joke?)
It looks like all three of ‘Fringe’s’ stars have quickly rebounded from the show’s cancellation, with Anna Torv starring in the HBO drama ‘Open’ created by Ryan Murphy and Joshua Jackson in Showtime’s ‘The Affair.’
If you enjoyed the series premier of ‘Sleepy Hollow’, here’s a little bonus for you! A synopsis of the upcoming second episode:
In the next episode, Ichabod Crane and Lt. Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) move forward in their mission to unravel the mysteries lurking in Sleepy Hollow. A scary vision from Icahod’s ex-wife Katrina (Katia Winter) sends the duo on the hunt for a witch from the 1700s, who has waken up by unknown evils and is cutting a path of destruction through the quaint town.
Are you hooked on Fox’s new series? Are you glad to see John Noble back and in another supernatural-themed show?
‘Sleepy Hollow’ airs Monday nights at 9 pm eastern on Fox.
