Back in May, Dave Filoni of ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ announced that a new ‘Star Wars’ animated series was on it’s way. Titled ‘Star Wars: Rebels’, the Disney XD series will feature teen heroes from the two-decade period between ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and ‘A New Hope’ as they take part in the birth of the rebel alliance. Over the weekend at Star Wars Celebration Europe, Filoni took the stage to share more details on the upcoming show, concept art, and the official logo. But now, all of those things have found their way online.
The Hollywood Reporter offers up the official concept art and logo. As you can see in the header, the orange and black color scheme echoes the rebel pilots’ flight suits in the original trilogy (as well as the awesome Philadelphia Flyers). With the concept art, it’s noted once again that Ralph McQuarrie is a huge influence of the show. In addition to the high-res images that were officially released, Bleeding Cool has more art shown at the panel in Germany. You can see all of it in the gallery below:
So far, things are looking pretty cool. These spacecraft definitely look like they’re a few years off from the Millennium Falcon and Darth Vader’s personal TIE Fighter, which is a great fit considering the time period that this all takes place. And now that the logo and concept art is out there, hopefully we’ll get the first footage sometime soon since a one-hour special is scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2014 before becoming a full-fledged series.
What do you think of the artwork that they premiered at Star Wars Celebration? Are you looking forward to ‘Star Wars: Rebels’? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
