While ‘Heroes Reborn’ was able to gain one Zachary to its cast, it’s losing another. Zachary Quinto has decided to pass on returning to the sequel of the TV series ‘Heroes.’
In the original series, Quinto played Sylar, a psychotic who was able to usurped the abilities of other “evolved humans” by killing them and stealing their brains. He was one of the more colorful characters on the show as well as someone who was integral in the overall plot arc. Sylar quickly became someone fans loved to hate. By the end of Season 4, there seemed to have been a transformation and Sylar had decided to change his ways. But did it last?
We may never know. In an interview with Buzzfeed, Quinto has made it official that he will not be a part of ‘Heroes Reborn’:
“No, I’m not going to go back. I talked to them about it, and Tim reached out to me when they decided they were going to do it. We had a great conversation. It was such a meaningful experience for me – I loved that job, I loved those people… I just felt like I didn’t want to go back to it. Tim was very, very understanding, Tim Kring. He was very understanding and supportive. I’m thrilled that they’re doing it… I just felt like I need to cultivate other outlets for myself.”
While that may be disappointing news to fans, it can’t be denied that Quinto has done extremely well post-‘Heroes.’ Not only is he a part of the huge ‘Star Trek’ universe playing Spock, he is in demand to return to ‘American Horror Story,’ and can seen in the indie film ‘I am Michael’ (set to be shown at Sundance this weekend) and next month will star in the NBC miniseries ‘The Slap.’ He has also served as an executive producer for many projects most notably the Starz docu-series ‘The Chair’ which follows two first time directors through the process of filming their first big film.
Many hope that several characters would be returning to this new series and so far this expectation has been met with some disappointment. So far we’ve only learned that Jack Coleman will be back to reprise his role as Noah Bennet, a.k.a. Clair the cheerleader‘s father, a.k.a. Horn Rimmed Glasses (HRG) and that ‘Chuck’ star Zachary Levi has just been signed to play a new character. Beyond that, not much has been released about the 13 episode project.
Production is slated to begin sometime this year so no doubt more casting news and show information will be released soon so make sure you keep checking back for updates!
